6 1/2 Inch blades go dull faster than 7 1/4

This question is from 6-1/2 in. x 24-Tooth Framing Saw Blade

I used Diablo blades in both my 7 1/4 and 6 1/2 circular saws and notice the blades on the 6 1/2 circular saw seem to go dull quicker. Is this because of the design of the smaller thinner blade is not as durable as a 7 1/4 or just the lack of power in the 18 volt saw does have as much power when the the blade goes just a little dull.

Answer:
I have not had any problems with the 6-1/2" blades going dull faster than the 7-1/4" I have both saws, it may depend on the materials you are cutting or the saw itself. This is not an issue that I have with the blades.

Hi, Joe - The Diablo D0624R is produced to almost identical tolerances as the D0724R. The only exception is of course the overall size of the blade. However, it is hard to answer your question without further information. Since the D0624R is intended for use on a cordless saw, its life can be compromised by the lack of power draw from older or dying batteries. The more the blade will have to work in the material to complete the cut, will produce extra wear on heat build-up on the carbide teeth. Other factors can include the material being cut can cause accelerated dulling as well. Please reach out to Chris Washington at cwashington@freudtools.com so that he may further understand your issue. Thank you. Read Less

Answer:
Hi, RW1257 - The Diablo 6 ½” x 40T blade is not recommended to cut non-ferrous materials. However, we do sell a 6 ½” x 48T metal cutting blade that will cut non-ferrous metals as well. The Part number is D0648F. We do not recommend putting a 7 ¼” blade on a miter saw either. Please either use the D1084L or the D1296L depending if the miter saw is a 10” saw or a 12” saw.

Answer:
This is not a metal cutting blade. You want to look for a blade made to cut non-ferrous metal, that should cut through aluminum.

I use it on oak with great success. If you are cross-cutting, you may prefer a finer tooth blade.

Hi MTA, if your not cutting a lot of boards, this will be fine. I would prefer you were cutting on a table sawing and using a larger blade with more teeth.

Answer:
This blade will not work on the above mentioned saw. The saw has a 7/8” arbor, the blade has a 5/8”. Furthermore, the saw is a metal cutting chop saw, not made for wood.
