Questions & Answers

Will this work for laminate flooring?

Asked by: Steve
NO, NO and sometimes yes. 95% of Laminates have special coatings on them that build up on the blade and dull them out incredibly quick. They make blades specifically for laminate flooring. You will go though at least a blade or more a house and it starts burring its way though the laminate. This is from my professional experience as a General Contractor.

how is this blade for cuttig laminate

Asked by: hans
I have used this and many other 60 tooth blades for cutting laminate over the years and the best advise I can offer is to keep the blade low so the tooth is hitting the material perpendicular to the blade and feed the laminate slowly. Be sure to add an auxiliary fence if there is a gap between your fence and the saw deck if the gap is enough that the laminate can slip beneath the fence. Keep the blade a 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch above the deck when making the cut and you should be good.

8-1/4 in. x 40-Tooth Finish Saw Blade is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1161.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value I always use Freud (Diablo) blades on every Bosch saw I own. I'm a finish carpenter and demand a butter cut each time and these thin kerf blades deliver every time.

I needed to cut some furniture legs just a bit shorter, but worried about the blade splintering the wood at the cut line and marring the wood stained finish. The 90-tooth blade to the rescue! The cut is indeed flawless, preserving the furniture finish perfectly at the cut line. And making the cut is as easy as the proverbial "hot knife through butter," smooth and effortless. You would never even know that cuts had been made. The blade is a bit pricey, even at HD, but well worth it for the super fine cut and effortless control. Every DIYer should have one of these blades in their arsenal. The more teeth, the better!!

My contractor's saw had an 80 tooth Diablo blade and the process was going very slowly. I had always been reluctant to use a ripping blade, thinking -- incorrectly -- that it would produce a poor edge that would require re-work. Boy, was I WRONG! This blade produces a perfect edge and rips boards like they are hot butter! The old blade took several minutes to rip a 14' board. The ripping blade does the same job in about a minute! This is the best $27 I've spent in a long time! If you have ripping to do, do yourself a favor and get one of these blades!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I am sure this blade is fine for construction applications... I am sure this blade is fine for construction applications when using a tabletop contractor saw that has little power. I was unable to use it, as I have a cabinet saw with a full kerf splitter on the back. This blade, as with all blades at Home Depot, is a thin kerf blade. I did not realize that until I was into the cut and it jammed on my splitter. Fortunately I was able to stop the saw and safely remove the work piece without experiencing any kick back. Very disappointed the Home Depot does not have any full kerf options in store, but yet not surprised.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smooth Operation Very impressed with the fine cut, smooth operation, and it stayed cool. I am a little disappointed that it dulled quicker than I would expect for a $60 blade with this trademark. I was cutting 3/4" x 5" Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring but I was not that far along; The Dewalt 60 tooth blade lasted noticeably longer, with the Cobalt blade lasting about 13 seconds and promptly returned. I will sharpen it and see how it performs on non-exotics. If it does well, I would recommend it to others Thank you

Extremely smooth cuts with less than 1/32" run out over 3' cuts. I have to adjust my measurements on my table saw due to the thin kerf, ~3/32". I have cut standard plywood, cabinet grade plywood, 2 x 4's, and 1 x 4's with excellent results and minimal, if any, chipping. I have spent more money on other saw blades, $90-100, and the results with this blade are comparable. Easily worth the $48 I paid for this blade.
