What is the blade thickness? What is the cut capacity (5" branch?)

Asked by: georgia
Not sure how thick the blade is, but not thick enough in my opinion. Blade is easily bent. I haven't tried to cut anything larger than 7" diameter logs but it had no problem doing that.

Diablo has a winner with these blades, it cuts smoothly, doesn't grab and is perfect for pruning operations. It is definitely safer than using a chainsaw in many cases. I don't hesitate to use it to remove 6 or 7 inch diameter trees or shrubs and changing one of these blade is a whole lot easier than changing a chainsaw chain. They work great for cutting back to the ground, they will bend instead of shatter which is much safer.

The blade was used to cut out the roots of a live oak tree that had been cut down. The roots were sending up hundreds of saplings. The roots were a dense mass that was about 6 to 8 inches thick. There were also roots coming off of the stump. The blade held up well even in the dirt. I had tried combination blades which were for wood and metal, but they dulled down to quickly.

I've found these blades to be made of good steel and hold their edge on the teeth for longer for cutting tree limbs up to 8" in diameter. They cut fast enough even when using a battery powered reciprocating saw which doesn't have a long life to begin with when compared to an electric powered reciprocating saw. The 5 pack offers them at very affordable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job I got these blades to cut through some wet lumber. They did a great job cutting it up into smaller pieces to be thrown away. I have not used them for pruning purposes yet but I know that they will work great with that as well. They would not be good if you are cutting wood with a lot of nails though so be aware if you were to use them for demo projects

We have 262 homes in our community and trim trees using this with a recepricator saw and mountain bike chain oil on it and cuts branches like butter. The mountain bike chain oil keeps the blade free of saw dust and lubricates it. Saves a lot of time tree pruning!!

Average limb 2" diameter. Removed at least 60 limbs. Still lots of life left on the first blade. Nice clean cuts. Crepemyrtle not nearly as hard as hickory wood, but this has been a real time saver. Would definitely buy again!!

Had use an old regular wood blade that was dull to finish the cut. I returned the blades to Home Depot without any problem for a full refund. I highly recommend NOT buying any Diablo blades or drill bits.
