Answer:
No, this will not. Your best bet would be an oscillating tool for making precise plunge cuts into your existing chimney mortar.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Diablo makes the best products, and this is one of them. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 3" Cast Iron Pipe Cut With Ease! I read the other reviews before I purchased this blade. I was going to go for the other (cheaper) cast iron saw blade but went for the more expensive one. Thank God I purchased this blade because it cut through an old very, very thick 3" cast iron pipe in less than 3 minutes. Use water or something to cool the blade so it will last longer. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by does not cut cast iron pipe try to cut a 4" cast iron pipe but after running it for 5 minutes nothing go thru the pipe except rust October 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cutting leaf spring mounting bolt I bought this blade based on what a few of the reviewers said. I did not work well for me at all. The diamond grit on the bottom of the blade was worn out by the time I was a third of the way cut. I used coolant when I was cutting. I am not sure who they are comparing there blades with when they say lasts 6 times longer. I bought a lennox diamond blade, it was a dollar more. I had made 3 full cuts and the blade still looked better afterwards than the diablo. I am out 16$ now that I could have spent on a lennox. I have to put it down as a learning experience because I had no idea if it would hold up. My money does not come easy and I have to work hard to get it. I will not buy one of these diablo blades again. December 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well for concrete used this blade to cut concrete pavers for our landscaping project and it worked really well. leaves a nice clean edge. May 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not live up to claim of masonry use Bought this to cut 2 fire bricks for my woodstove figuringing I wouldn't have to buy a new saw and blade for such a small job. After almost 30 minutes of cutting it was 1/2 way through the first brick and vibrated one of the splits in half...next brick pretty much the same thing. I've used sawsalls for all sorts of jobs and diablo products before this on was a major disappointment. October 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 4" Cast Iron Stack I used this blade to cut through an old 4" cast iron stack in order to add in a wye for a new drain line. It took me probably 5 minutes to the cut through the pipe. I stopped periodically and poured water on the blade to help keep it cool. The finished cut was straight and clean. October 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by did the job the blade did over a dozen cuts on 4 inch cast iron pipe got the job done/finished and still have the blade....well worth the money.... November 12, 2014
