Are these heaters able to be painted with a high temperature paint so they fit in their surroundings?
Asked by: wildman
Some could try, and it may work-- but I wouldn't try it. I'm not sure I could do it and prevent painting the heating fans, or alternatively, the thermostat as mounted on either side.

where can i get thermostat for Dimplex 60 inch baseboard heater

It is not listed on honme depot web site.
Asked by: slick
Found mine online. Search for DIMPLEX NORTH AMERICA DTK-SP Single Thermostat Kit. Budget around $10 for the thermostat. This is the basic "knob" model. You can get different models with digital readout, etc.

Do these carry an Energy Star Rating? If not, are baseboard heaters in general not required to carry a rating? Are there any baseboards heaters that do carry an Energy Star rating? My city building department is requiring it.
Asked by: Pablo
Good Afternoon, Electric heat is sufficient and does not require Energy Star Rating. Thank you

As for its use, it is heating the room well (remember you will need to buy a separate thermostat to operate this product.) I am curious to see how long it may last before it needs replacement. I would give this a 4 star rating on installation -- not as easy as it could be. Why are we using square driver heads on the mounting screws in our age of "uniform phillips?" If they would change the heads on those screws to phillips, I would upgrade this rating to 4 stars. Also, you may want to have help in installing it to complete a clean installation, as it is long and a second pair of hands can help level it on the wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable This unit does get very hot and did a good job for the first winter. Last week it started to cycle on and off following the high temperature limit switch and the room wouldn't reach the thermostat set-point. As mentioned by another revewer, the aluminum fins (and the whole heating assembly) is floating inside the casing and can rotate allowing the fins to touch the capillary of the high limit causing a premature opening of the circuit. It is a design flaw. I would not buy this particular design again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! I bought this heater for my basement, a space that is roughly 20' x 20'. I am using a proportional thermostat with it and it heats the space quickly and quietly. I have purchased and installed other sized Dimplex convection baseboard heaters throughout my house and it is amazing how quickly the spaces heat up. I really like how compact they are and little space the take up on the walls. I would recommend these heaters and I will use them again. I have also used the DImplex heaters with the built in thermostats, they work great too.

We bought two regular baseboard heaters and, once installed, found that they did not heat the area we needed. I found these and decided to give them a try. Not only are they very sleek looking, they also heat amazingly. You could feel the heat coming from the unit standing 5 feet away from it. Heated the room within minutes. I would definitely recommend these heaters!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not noisy Contrary to previous reviews, these heaters are not noisy. They are easy to install, far better looking that the old style and throw out a lot of heat. There are only a couple of issues as far as I can see. The first is just an inconvenience. Because they are smaller than the old heaters, replacing them means not only installing the heater, but redoing your baseboards. The second issue is only relevant if you want to install the integral thermostat which you can buy separately. (They are a little expensive for what they are by the way) The thermostat is easy to install other than the push outs on the heater are a bit of a pain to get out neatly. The main issue is that they have gone and spoiled the whole thing by supplying a cheap and nasty control knob with the thermostat. The notched barrel which fits on the spindle is a soft plastic with no reinforcement, so it feels as if it's going to twist off all the time. You have to be real gentle with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My experience with using Dimplex baseboard heaters to heat my home, has been a negative one. My experience with Dimplex Baseboard Heaters, after two years use. The heaters I purchased do Heat up the wall quite HOT. I have SCORCHED PAINT spots on the wall in my daughters bedroom. Too lessen the heating off the wall, I have shimmed them out a half inch, to a couple and even a few Items have too easily dropped into these heaters, due to open top design. We experience an toy figurine being melted atop of this heater in my sons bedroom. All my Dimplex heaters do make noise even after being replaced and the replacement used for a while. The noise we experience is more problematic the longer units. The sounds are humming, as well as clicking. The aluminum heat exchanger fins have rotated over time. They are not well secured to the heating element.
