Answer:
No, pipe locations are not universal. But you can create the holes easily with a spade bit. (those flat drill bits)

Answer:
No they are not you have to take measurements to the faucet etc. and then using a hole saw cut holes in the tub/shower surround. You can practice on a small piece of plywood or Sheetrock until you get comfortable with your measuring skills.

I have a 2/3" uneven gap due to the walls construction and don't know how to fill it. It is between 1/8 up to 1/2 inch gap between the tub lip and the surround. I have no idea how or with what I should fill it. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your question about the Distinction 3-Piece Easy Up Adhesive Tub Wall. Caulking is only meant to fill gaps up to usually 1/4 inch. There are manufactures that make caulking strips that are plastic on one said and caulking on the other that can be used. Check with your local hardware store for manufactures of this.
Thanks,
Nick

I had a similar situation and I found that the surround could be cut to fit better without the huge gaps. Other than that, I would fill it with white silicone caulk.

Answer:
Since the gap is up to 1/2" in some areas, I'd recommend you to first install backer rod, or foam insulation to physically fill the volume of the gap first, and then place caulking.
Caulking as a whole is intended to seal small gaps, since this isn't the case, the backer rod would first be needed, and then once the caulking, preferably 100% silicone.

Answer:
You can, but I would not purchase this unit. It is very flimsy. The Towel/Shelf area is very thin. If you use these as a handle to stand up, they will crack. THIS IS TOO THIN FOR ANY USE! Save yourself a big headache later & find a sturdier unit, one with thicker panels & not so brittle material.

Rated 2.9 out of 5 by 42 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tub Surround I liked the looks of this surround but the design leaves a lot to be desired. I think it should have been a five piece design with the corners being separate pieces to account for imprecise dimensions. For a professional that does this for a living the design is probably ok but for a DIYer installation is not straight forward at all. A call to the manufacturer was of no help at all and the written instructions left a lot to be desired. As per some of the previous reviews I braced the panels after installation until the surround adhesive dried. I am pleased with the looks of the final job completion but if I had to do it over again knowing what I now know I would not have purchased this particular product. November 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great panals, looks great I am a General Contractor and usually install tubs with surrounds that attach to the studs instead of glue on. I was a little leery about these because I seen many of these glue on come off the wall from improper installation. First I tried the caulking tubes because the store did not have the adhesive I wanted in a tub by the gallon, it was a waste of time and I had to remove the panel from the wall,( it would not stick) and remove the wet glue from the back and the wall. So I called the phone number in the instructions for the glue they recommend and they would not recommend anything, big disappointment. So as I researched this more,, I ordered an adhesive from my hardware store made by (Henry number 317 Multi purpose adhesive) that is safe to use for these panels that I know, and it worked Great. You wont pull this panel off the wall if you tried, its that strong of a bond. The instructions for the encloser also recommends a 1/4'' V notched trowel which I could not find, so I used a 1/4''x 1/4''x1/4'' square notch trowel to apply the adhesive to the whole wall behind the panels, and it worked perfectly. Only disappointment is that the towel bars are not centered in the tub on the end panels because it fits up to 32'' tubs, which is not the standard that I know of, and it overhangs the tub by 1 1/2'' which is not a big deal. So if you use the glue I used you should not have a problem. February 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I like the look of the product. Bright and clean! Beautiful! *The walls are thick and not flimsy like other products. *I bought this surround wall not only for the quality of the product but also for the shelves. However, after installation and use, I don't like the shelves on the long/middle panel. Water sits on the shelves after the shower, so I have to wipe them off after each shower. Not a big deal; just don't leave your soap on one of these shelves. It's okay for bottles. *I cut a window out of the long panel. It was best to use a jig saw instead of a utility knife. *I found it best to use Loctite instead of Liquid Nails for the adhesive. Loctite was quick. Liquid Nails took hours and lots of pressure for it to adhere. October 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice surround! This product is worth the extra hundred and some dollars! We first purchased th 5 panel tub surround for $98. Got home and it was cracked and extremely thin. Took it back and got this surround. We had a good bit of cutting out to fit a window and this product held up to very thin cuts nI problem. MAKE SURE TO USE THE LOCTITE ADHESIVES!!! Do not use the liquid nails. I do agree with other reviews the shelfs are an odd height since they don't accomadate most bathroom utilities. January 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Distinction tub surround Not good the design of the fake tile leaves too much gap in the back which does not allow for easy gluing, had to use double of what was suggested and more, even boarded across to hold and still some loose areas behind panels. Corner pcs kick out the panel too far for gluing the back pc. Would not recomend. January 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just throw the instructions away and hope for the best! Stumbled across these reviews after buying but prior to attempting to install. Since it would have been a huge hassle to return, we decided to attempt to install it anyway. Based on the feedback left by others, we tossed the instructions, gave the back of the surround a light sanding to help the glue adhere and installed it with 3 tubes of LePage Tub Surround Adhesive. We braced the end walls overnight with the shower rod and it seems to have stuck very well. We did have to trim the edges of the back where it meets with the sides which wasn't in the instructions either but once we put on the caulking, the seam doesn't look too bad. We didn't pay very much for the surround so are quite satisfied with the way it turned out. September 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor instructions, poor design We purchased this (expensive) shower wall because it seemed the best option for our needs at the time. However, the instructions were minimal, not giving helpful directions for how to put it up. There was an obscure piece of plastic on the side pieces, and we didn't know what they were for. The instructions said nothing about them, so we broke them off so it would lie flush against the wall. Later, when installing, we realized these were there for a purpose. We were supposed to put the middle wall in first, and we did the opposite because the instructions didn't say. All in all, not a big deal, but then we also installed it, and the center of the wall doesn't line up with the center of plumbing, offsetting the shower. Who designs this low-quality product? Is it never tested? It's a standard tub size. I would not purchase this product again, and the more I use Home Depot do-it-yourself supplies, the less I want to purchase Home Depot's products. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Flawless install I bought this unit because none of the 5 piece systems would accommodate an existing window in the shower. I read a lot of reviews of this product complaining that it was difficult to install. I have never installed a shower surround, and it could not have gone better. I went directly over drywall. Did use additional glue; 3 tubes for the back panel & 2 for each side panel. Used the Locktite glue designed for this purpose (it is very thick and bonds almost instantly to a porous surface, do get your panel in the correct position before applying any pressure to the glue as it is difficult to move after that). I used a big bead of the adhesive, approx. 1/2". In addition to a bead 2" from all edges I used a large (1 1/2" dia. x 1/2" deep) dab at each of the tile intersections where I knew it would be making contact with the wall and a good bead on the back of each shelf. No issues. I also overlapped the edges of the side panels over the back panel, rather than trying to trim it up. That served to make the install a little easier and created a little bit of an overlap for water proofing of the panels. (if you overlap it, just make sure you seal the gap on top) The tile pattern was not my first choice, but it did add some strength to the panels, while also hiding imperfections in the sub strait. All in all, I felt like this would be a pretty durable unit. Unless you have a 30" tub the shelves will not center on your shower/tub valve. So if the asymmetry bothers you you may want another unit. Also, took advice from other reviewers to fill shelf cavities with foam from the back side. This did add rigidity to the shelves but it also deformed them a bit so water does not drain as well. Not a big deal, but if you foam the shelves do multiple passes with the foam, letting it dry between each coat so the foam has plenty of room to expand without pushing on the plastic of the shelves.
