How sensitive is this???

I am looking to possibly place these on the window screens.

My little angel daughter is 12 and Autistic. She pushes out the screens or cuts them to elope (leave without supervision). In the past door alarms like this worked great mainly because she is sound sensitive. She is now able to turn the alarms off. This would require us to put these alarms on the outside of the screen so that she would not be able to shut them off without setting them off.

If the alarms is sensitive enough to sound with wind blowing on the screen they would not work.

Answer:
Boy, I am not sure if this will work on screens. These are not for outside the window, but if covered you may be able to make them work. You could buy one and run your own test to see if it worked. They are not expensive. They are simple to operate. Good luck.

Answer:
If you install the alarm outside the window, you may not hear it that well. The design is for indoor use. The wind blowing is not strong to trigger the alarm. However, if you punch the window strongly, you could trigger the alarm.

Answer:
It absolutely works on a glass door.
In fact, it works better on glass than other substrates, as its thinner and picks up vibrations easier.

I'm looking for an alarm to discourage a woodpecker from pecking on my house. (They don't like noise.) My question would be, If I place this alarm near where the woodpecker usually pecks, would the vibration be enough to set the alarm off? also, can it withstand being outside instead of in?

The alarm will be trigger when it detects the vibration. If you only move the window, the alarm will not be trigger.

I bought these to secure my new home which is in a Chicago neighborhood that is "up-and-coming" but still has some elevated risks. We have ground level windows in our lower level which would be temping for someone looking to break in. I bought these sensors for all of my windows to help deter someone from breaking in. They work well and will go off if the window is bumped with any kind of force. These may not necessarily go off if a window is slid open, but they are meant to detect impacts when someone is attempting to break the window or force it. If you want something that will go off if the window is simply opened, look for the 2 part sensors that mount to both the window and the window frame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product An employee and I were talking last summer about window alarms when he informed me he purchased this product for his apartment and loved it. He was very nice and informative so I decided to purchase four. I have tested the alarm several times and each time it goes off with a powerful sound. I have recommended this product to all of my friends with or without a home security alarm since securing ones windows can be very costly. I really like the warning that is boldly placed on the back of the alarm (right in the intruders face). I just printed off a picture of this window alarm and provided it to my coworker:)! The cost of each is economical too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doberman Security These are fantastic security alarms for windows or sliding glass doors. I had them on my windows and then had the windows replaced so I bought another set. They make me feel secure without the high cost of other alarm systems. Test every year for battery. One of mine did need to be replaced after a year. They make a loud alarm sound if the window or door is disturbed. It should scare any would be robber away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is a lifesaver I highly recommend this product. Last night I woke up to one of my window alarms going off, and it just so happens that someone was trying to break in. The pitch on these alarms are extremely loud and obnoxious, it will wake the dead! If I did not invest in this window alarm, who knows what could have happened last night!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Security First, I'd like to point out that this model is for WINDOWS ONLY! They have a door model that should be used for sliding glass doors. I bought a combo pack with one window alarm and two door alarms. I live close to a train track and was worried that the window alarm would go off unnecessarily during the night, but the train does not bother it. My boyfriend tried to open the window and tapped the window and the alarm went off with a piercing 95 decibels. That will wake you up!!! It also applies to your window with a Doberman security image on the back, as an extra deterrent. The door alarms work nicely also, by use of a magnetic strip. When you slide or open the door, the alarm goes off (also at 95 decibels). Close it and it will stop, but still be alarmed. Obviously this may not stop a robbery, but it is a good deterrent and useful for people who may want to get out of the house and call the police. Excellent product for the value--three alarms for $9.99!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid alarm at an economical price Happy with the purchases. Purchased over 10 of these alarms at two different HD stores. They are easy to put on your windows. Make sure you test placing them on your windows in different spots before sticking them on. Some of my older windows, I had to place them in different spots compared to my newer windows. They work great & alarm is deafening. Would recommend these if you're looking for a way to give you some peace of mind in protecting your home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a great price The product itself is incredibly easy to install. Open the package (probably the most difficult part), pull out the tab to activate the batteries, peel the paper off the back and stick to your window. It's that simple! When you flip the switch to turn it on, it flashes for roughly 3 seconds and sounds a quick "beep" letting you know it is active. I thought that was a great feature rather than setting it off to make sure it worked. But how well does it work? I told my wife to tap on the area near it. Putting her hand on the window did nothing, but the second she caused some vibrations, the thing started going off. The only thing I can complain about is the size of it. This is more my fault than anything, I was thinking it would be the size of a quarter. Instead, it's bigger than a half dollar, but not by much. Even knowing this, I'd still buy them again, they are that awesome!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says I purchased one of these for all my 1st floor windows. They seem to work great, they are sensitive enough to go off if you knock or tap heavily on the glass, but not overly sensitive where they will go off by a strong wind. Nice and loud!
