Possibly, but it doesn't chirp, it emits a very loud signal that I imagine could be quite startling and confusing for someone with dementia.

How easy are they to set and turn off?

I'm thinking of installing these on the doors to my elderly parents home. Dad has Alzheimer's and we need a way to alert Mom if he goes outside. Mom is short, hard of hearing, vision impaired and has arthritis in her fingers. If the door is open and the alarm is sounding, how hard is it to stop the alarm? Is there a button you have to push on it to set it or turn it off?

Answer:
The alarm will go back off when the door is closed again. Otherwise, just flip a little switch on the side of it to turn the alarm off altogether (i.e. when you don't want it on)

You will need to manually turn it off. There's on/off switch on the unit. We have another model come with remote so you will be able to turn it on/off by using the remote. The item number is SE-0119.

Answer:
You can place these alarms on windows. Each piece placed directly across from the other as you would on a door and door jamb. Open the window to desired height, high enough to ventilate but not high enough to allow someone to crawl in. Turn the alarm on...it will SOUND if someone tries to push the window up higher.
You would NOT want to put alarms on the screen.

The two pieces have to be beside each other so that if the connection is broken, the alarm sounds.

Home Security Window/Door Alarm Kit (4-Pack) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Security I find it loud enough when I tested it during the night when it's quiter. My front door it's flush with post (opening) but as long as they are somewhat close together it will work just fine, the alarm will go off once they are about an inche apart. If any of your door open in or outwards you can flip the end with the switch upside down as well and it works just the same. I placed one each on the kids bedroom window however due to the window design I had to place the smaller piece straight down instead of having it sideways as shown and it will still work. My reason for not giving five stars is just because I wish it was a bit louder for those nights when you may be extra tired and in a deeper sleep. Also, if someone opens the door it will go off but it will stop as soon as the door is closed. So if someone opens the door the alarm will go off but stops right away if the door was closed. I think it should stay on until you switch it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home security alarm 4-pack This alarm kit doesn't do much, but what it does it does quite well. Install it on a door, turn on the switch, and it will beep loudly if the door is opened. Turn the switch off to open the door without the alarm. It's very easy to install, and at least in the short time we've had it it's stayed firmly affixed. What amazes me is that a pack of four of these sets can be purchased so inexpensively. Outstanding value.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I guess so The alarm is loud and it was easy to install the only reason I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 it because the batteries where Dead on the first one I ordered the replacement batteries we're also dead on one of them ...I just gave up and kept it at that point

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product works as described. It's extremely loud. It's louder than the ATT digital alarm system's siren! I love it and recommend them to anyone!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loud but won't stick The product would be great if it would stay on. Three of the four fell off multiple times in the first few days til we gave up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sense of security I was looking for security without having to have a monthly fee. I know it's not like having a call go to the police station but I think if someone tries to break into my house the noise may run them off or at least it will give me notice to get myself armed. I do feel safer. these alarms were very easy to install and are very loud.
