This is an easy slip in replacement for a PR style flashlight bulb.
It is much brighter with 4 cells ( 6 Volts) than it is with only 3 cells (4.5 Volts).
Actually at 4.5 volts it was disappointing.
In either case it will get much better run-times than an incandescent bulb, so that's why I recommend it.

I ordered this bulb online from Home Depot because ordering direct from the manufacturer would cost four times as much. Here's why: The bulb cost over $5.00 and the SHIPING would cost $15.00.
There's no way I would pay this period. I would throw the flash light away before I would pay this price.
However as I was in Home Depot looking tom see if they had by any chance stocked replacement bulbs
I talked to one of the employees about the cost from the manufacturer and he suggested I go online to Home Depot and see if they have them any cheaper. They did and I saved at least $15.00.
My thanks to Home Depot employees.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Donald99 Brings New Life to an Old Maglite
I got this for my 30 year old 3 D cell Maglite that was dim compared to new LED flashlights. Couldn't bring myself to throw out something that well made that has given faultless service. Have tried cheaper LED flashlights that impress at 1st but seem to always fail when they're are needed. D cells are expensive ,so the longer life with the 40 lumen Dorcy is appreciated as is the approximate 4 times brightness. It even is useably bright with old batteries. I first bought a 30 lumen Dorcy bulb for my 2 C cell Maglite & was impressed. That flashlight was never bright & only adequate with new batteries, now I use it all the time because or its handy size & good on & off button & greater brightness. These Dorcy bulbs are shorter than the old bulbs, so I find the spot is the right size in 2 different ranges when adjusting the beam by twisting the knurled front of the Maglites. These updated flashlights are nowhere as bright as new integrated LED flashlights, including Maglites but are an inexpensive way to save batteries give otherwise perfect flashlights a new lease on life.

I bought this LED bulb to retro-fit my favorite backpacking flashlight. The bulb fit perfectly and emits a very bright beam of light. In addition, the low energy demands of this LED bulb, greatly increase the active life of the four AA-batteries that power this flashlight.

the bulb is very dim even with new batteries. Lousy value as replacement. DO not buy. Customer service from Home Depot is non existant. ordered online and went to pick up at the store, had to wait for someone to come to the desk for almost 30 min. No one acknowledges you are even there. You ask for help and EVERY staff in Home Depot just says " it is not my dept" and walks away. DO NOT BUY from home depot. Prices are high for the most part

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Out4Fun Dorcy 40 Lumen 4.5 - 6v LED bulb
I purchased my first led bulb for a Maglite 3C flashlight on Ebay for $15 and it worked great, then I found the Dorcy LED bulb for $5 and installed it in another Maglite 3C flashlight and found it to work equally well. Nice white light, brighter than the stock Krypton bulb.
