flashlight won't hold a charge

This question is from 5 LED Dynamo Flashlight
April 20, 2015
My barely used 2-year old Dorcy Dynamo flashlight won't hold a charge for more than 5 seconds after being wound up for about 30 seconds. Is this typical of this model? I want to keep it in an emergency bag, but not if it's useless. Thanks.

I am having exactly the same experience and I'm very upset to have a useless wind-up flashlight in my emergency kit. I'm wondering if the battery can be replaced? It seems such a shame to throw the whole thing away just because the battery went out on it.

All Dynamo lights have to be maintained. Meaning the light has to wound up every few months to maintain the life of the battery. If that does not happen the battery will die and will not be able to be recharged by winding.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Useless if not rewound regularly I bought this hand-wound flashlight for an emergency kit but cannot always remember to dig it out to rewind it every few months so the battery has died and it no longer holds a charge after being rewound. Now it's useless. Can the battery be replaced? A shame to throw it all away just because I left it too long between windings. July 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MARVELOUS Excellent product to carry with me any where, be it at home, in the car, travelling - you name it... anywhere!!!! The flashing 5 bulb blinking feature is great especially if your car breaks down & no auto power supply to put on your emergency flashlights. This fllashlight can help vehicles behind identify you are in distress. Moreover easy to carry, handle and wind for a minute for power recharging for good time with no batteries or bulbs required to worry about, giving bright & good range of light for a reasonable price!!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Seem to be good We bought them as emergency flashlights for in our plant so I don't have much experience with them. I tried them out and they provide enough light to see where you are going, however it is not really 5 LED's of light, there are 3 LED's for the real light and 2 side amber LED's that flash if needed. The only maintenance needed is that they should be cranked every 3 months. December 10, 2013
