Product Overview

Dr. T's 4 lb. Snake Repelling Granules, effectively repel garter snakes, rattlesnakes and other species from areas they are not wanted. This granular snake repellent is applied around the perimeter of the area you want to protect. Snake-A-Way is detected by the snake’s Jacobson’s Organ (auxiliary olfactory sense organ) and disrupts its sensory reception. This disorientation causes the snake to slither away unharmed, in search of fresh air. Wearing gloves, apply the granules to the perimeter of the area that is to be protected. Place bands 4-5 inches wide to repel garter snakes, 8-12 inches wide to repel rattlers. For yard application, sprinkle Snake-A-Way throughout the area within the perimeter. When odor becomes faint, simply reapply. This product contains naphthalene (7%) and sulfur (28%) as its active ingredients. Snake-A-Way has greater than 91% repellency rate for rattlesnakes and garter snakes. The efficacy of this product makes it an indispensable resource in keeping your property free of snakes

Answer:
The width of the band will vary based on the type of snake you are trying to repel.
As long as the odor is present, it will be effective. The amount of time that one application will last varies based on the amount of rain etc.

Just wondering if it is safe around cats, dogs..children? If it smells as bad as the other reviews says they probably wouldn't come near it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snake Away I have had trouble with Southwestern Blackhead Snakes in and around my Gilbert home. The last one came up through the kitchen sink drain. I am on my way to get more of this great stuff. I used it earlier in the summer (lasts about 3 mos.) and plan to reapply around the perimeter, flower beds, shed area, pool area, etc. It smells like moth balls but beats having tiny snakes crawl into your house through the cracks! I hate snakes and this stuff seems to be a great deterrent since I haven't noticed any for months until just recently again. Time to reapply. The odor does diminish after a few days but remains active for several months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have worked ! ! I bought this about a year ago when I found a black snake sunning on my patio. It must have worked because I hadn't seen any more until about a month ago; again sunning. I am certain when I spread this today I will not see another snake for another year. Hurray ! ! ! As a professional herpetologist, I can guarantee you these products do not work. In addition, the replies from the company's Customer Service Relations clearly demonstrate they do not know what they are talking about. Cottonmouths and copperheads are NOT ratsnakes. These products should be removed from the market.

No chemical treatment has been proven effective in repelling snakes, including moth balls. What it will do is give you a false sense of security. Learn to leave snakes alone and you'll be fine.
