Customer Reviews

12-Volt High Performance Group 34/78 Pure Lead AGM Engine Start Battery is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Update to previous review. I received the second pair of batteries and found that they were even older than the first pair. Both batteries were made 2/13. I immediately called Universal Power Group who distributes this brand and spent a good 45 minutes on the phone with one of their engineers. He more or less confirmed that they have not had a run of these batteries made in years and that they will be dropping the line. Needless to say, I returned all four and got the ones I mentioned in the other post, which actually qualified for an additional discount. I ended up paying $230 each after the mail in rebate with a five year full replacement warranty . The batteries were brand new dated 11/16 and they keep them in stock. Much better deal, and a much better chance of getting 8+ years out of them like the other good reviews out there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Received 3.5 year old stock. Shipping is painfully slow. In my research it appears that this style of battery no matter what it is branded as or which of the two parent companies they are from, all are receiving great reviews. I originally was looking into Odyssey branded Enersys batteries and after a bunch of research and comparison shopping, I settled on purchasing two of these Drakon branded Northstar batteries of almost identical design. I purchased from Home Depot due to their willingness to price match the Internet and the idea that if I had a problem with one I could bring it to the store for warranty even though they are not stocked in store vs possibly getting stuck with expensive return shipping. I placed my order for two batteries and after 9 days one had showed up. After receiving the first one I contacted customer service to find that the second one had been canceled for no reason and had the order put through again. Fast forward 15 more days I was able to pick up the second battery. I get home and open the box, noticing a stamp saying that it was charged 1.5 years ago. Now I'm wondering how old my "new" batteries are and find the manufacturing date which turns out to be 4/13 on one and 5/13 on the other. It's Dec 02, 2016 and my brand new batteries are 3-1/2 years old. I contacted customer service today and placed another order for two more batteries, which should be in by the 15th... Maybe I should have got the X2 Power branded ones at Batteries Plus for the extra $30 each and the 5 year warranty..
