I had a nasty clog in my bathroom sink. No matter how hard I plunged I just couldn't fix it. There was this smelly black sludge coming up every time I plunged. So the next day after work I stopped by Home Depot. I was surveying all of the available products and a plumber stopped me. He said that none of these liquids worked well and that they were bad for pipes. Boy, am I glad I ignored him. I started off with half a bottle and waited 30 minutes. Nothing. I poured in the second half of the bottle and waited another 30 minutes. Still nothing. All of the gel seemed to be stuck at the top of the sink. I resigned myself to the fact that I would probably need a plumber but I picked up my little hand plunger again and went to work, careful not to splash any of this dangerous product around. Again, nothing. Bummed out, I turned off the bathroom lights and left assuming that it just wasn't fixable, at least not by me. A little while later I went back into the bathroom having forgotten something that I left in there and sure enough the sink was completely empty. Woo hoo! Just be aware that you may need to give it more time than what is recommended on the label.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Arthur It worked great for my slow draining bathtub
I'm normally skeptical with chemical products like this. I grew up in a house where stuff like this was laughed at, promptly followed by my dad swearing up a storm as he spent a Saturday pushing a snake through the drain to clear the accumulations of showering from 5 people and 1 dog.
Just having bought a home and gifted with a slow draining bathtub from the previous owner, I felt the snake was in my destiny until I read the reviews for this product and decided to give it a try. My tub was slow draining, so I let the water run extra hot, filled it with an inch or two of water, then poured half the 42oz bottle into the drain. The water slowly drained, and I had feelings that I'd be using that snake. So, I waited 30 mins. Came back, and rinsed for about a minute with extra hot water. I decided that I'd repeat with the half that was left over. I did the same, and rinsed. I noticed the water seemed to be flowing better, but decided to hold back my joy until my shower this morning so I could tell for sure if there was a difference. This stuff worked great. The drain barely lets any water accumulate in the tub. looking forward to buying another bottle for my inherited slow draining bathroom sink. For the price of this product versus the alternatives, don't skimp and try to get away using half the bottle here and half the bottle there. Do two treatments on your problem. Problem solved and I can relax with the upcoming holidays and not be in the tub fishing a snake thru the drain.

I have a plugged drain in my basement and I have no idea what it is plugged with. I have tried to use a hand snake and a grabber to no avail. I thought this gel would shake something loose down in the goose neck of the drain pipe. I followed the instructions to the “T”. I pulled water out of the drain so the gel could get right to work with no dilution by the water. Due to the goose neck I could not get all of the water out. I poured the gel in and let it stand the required length of time as stated in the instructions. After the time was up, I flushed the pipe with water and the plug was still firmly in place in the pipe. Sooo, I did it a second time and a third time but nothing loosened whatever is in the pipe goose neck. I guess if it was hair or soap scum it would blow it open but not knowing what is in the drain, the gel did not work. In all fairness the goose neck will not allow a snake or a grabber to reach what ever is in there, I had high hopes for a liquid product that could make that bend and work on the blockage. It might have, only time will tell, but I did not see one ounce of proof that this opened even a pin hole. Failed to open my drain.

I seem to have two drains that are always a bit slow in draining, so after using Drain Max Clog remover, the problem seems to be solved, because it comes in a Gel, less is needed to unclog the drain, therefore you are saving money , because it is a gel, it pours easily without spilling, since using this product, ( a month ago) the drains are still working properly.........

I tried other methods of unclogging my bathtub but none really worked. Eventually it got really clogged so I decided to try out this product and it worked like a charm.

Goes right to the clog, this time hair in the bathroom sink. It works fast and as long as you follow the directions it is safe to use. This is a thick liquid that has no trouble going through standing water. There is no objectionable odor and the 42 oz bottle is easy to carry and pour. Larger sizes are more economical but harder to pour a small volume into a sink.

After trying a plunger, a snake and another drain cleaner I gave up hope and thought that I'd have to take the pipe apart. As a last resort I tried Drano Gel and poured the whole bottle into the sink. I left for 10 minutes and came back and it was still sitting there. I gave up hope and went away. 20 minutes later, I came back and the gel was gone, I couldn't believe it! I poured a kettle of boiling down for good measure and the water drained perfectly. I was so excited that I went out and bought 2 other bottles for 2 other slow drains in my house.

Like many older guys, I’m getting a little thin on top and you can guess where it’s gone – into the shower drain! I recently noticed water pooling in my shower drain, and decided to try to clear it out before it became a catastrophe. I followed the directions for dispensing the Draino, waiting the requisite time (30 min) and pouring a couple gallons of hot water down the drain. Problem solved! Admittedly, I didn't wait until the drain was completely clogged to see if this product would work, but it did a fine job of restoring full flow capacity to my shower drain when used in a preventive manner. Highly recommend this product based on my experience.
