When I have a clogged drain (usually a bathtub/shower combo), I always try this first.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
This last time that I used it, it worked.
I spent $14 and didn't need to call a plumber ($140).
However, over the years I have had clogs that would not respond to any sort of solvent. Then, you have to call a plumber. Or you might try hydrochloric acid (available from pool supply stores), but that's a bit dangerous. So, in general, it is best to try Drano first..

It's a little bit more expensive than the consumer product, but in the past I've had to use the consumer product multiple times before it removed the clog. I only applied this once, let it sit in the shower drain for about 7 hours (as required by directions) and I haven't seen an issue since.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DaveF Finally a Toilet Bowl PLug Clearer
MOST drain cleaners specifically say NOT for Toilet use. This one includes toilets. I usually follow directions (add and flush, then don't use for specified time), but then add an additional little (2-4 oz) amount into the bowl with OUT flushing. Cleans out junk in drains and get things flowing for longer.

We had a clog toilet drain. The store associate suggested to try this product first before calling professional plumber. It worked, took about 2 days to clean up the drain. Thanks Home Depot.

Twice I tried this as directed except I used 1/4 bottle (The 64 ounce bottle is marked in 1/4 increments.) each time instead of 10 ounces in a bathroom sink with a slow drain. There was no change in the slow drain.

Drano once again proved to be king in our household for slow drains and the occasional clogged drain. I always try and use less than the prescribed amount, as I'm never really certain exactly how septic-safe these products are, but it's done a good job.
As with most caustic chemical cleaners, there will be an odor in the bathroom after use, but it's minimal and easily managed.
Typical Drano product - good, predictable, delivers as promised.

I can't speak for any other type of clog other than hair in the shower for this product. That is what i used it for and it is far cheaper and more productive than getting a plumber to the house to snake the drain. I already knew it was a hair issue and this product took care of it quickly. I followed the directions and it only took a little to get the job done, so I have more to use in the future.
