Customer Questions & Answers

Is the door wide enough that water doesn't go out of the shower/tub? Thanks for your answer.

Asked by: Gail
Sorry DREAMLINE...water goes everywhere! If you have a very light spray I guess you'd be ok, but I have to put two bath mats along the tub AND a towel on the side of the tub. Even with the shower head turned away from the door, the towel is usually soaked.

Does the hand bar have to be put on? Are there holes in the glass for the hand bar to be installed?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I have a soaker tub in a corner, surrounded by only two walls. I was looking for something that would work well for showering as well as soaking. I didn't want to feel like I was soaking in a fish bowl completely surrounded by glass and this was the answer! We did put a rain type shower nozzle so the water doesn't ricochet off my husband outside of the tub. It's everything and more!

This bath tub glass screen is made of quality materials and the installation was straightforward. The rubber at the bottom keeps the water from flowing to the floor but you need to realize the glass door is not for people who are splashing heavily when taking a shower. Using hand shower can be challenging, but using overhead shower is convenient and there is no dripping.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wouldn't buy again Nice looking, or we would only give it one star. Good product for a flip, or a remodel prior to sale, which is our purpose. But we wouldn't want to live with this daily because of the leaking. We have no idea how anybody could securely install this in less than 45 minutes, as some commenters claim to have done, and we are experienced DIY-ers. Certainly it will take you a lot longer if you are mounting the hinges on tile. Here are the issues: (1)The instructions say to mount the door 5/8" above the top of the side of the tub , but the bottom water strip is only 5/8" high. It should be mounted closer so there is a tight seal. (2)Surprise! This is advertised (and photographed) as frameless for a sleek look, but there is actually a plastic strip that mounts along the entire vertical straight edge to keep water from leaking. Additionally, you're instructed to make a funky notch where the side and bottom water seal strips meet...not clear what they are telling you to do. With five college degrees between us, we figured out a solution, but this is a funky design defect. (3)Every piece of metal hardware that touches the door includes a gasket (handles, hinge) but there is no gasket where the hinge abuts the tile. We had to jury-rig something so that both the tile and the door were protected from stress and possible breakage, and that took another trip to Home Depot. (4)If your wall isn't perfectly plumb, you are out of luck. Again, we accommodated a 3/32" out of plumb by placing more of our custom rubber gasket behind one of the hinges. (5)No template for hole alignment is provided. Manufacturer should really consider providing one. Would be infinitely easier. (6)Before we tiled, we measured where our studs were so the hinges could be secured to a stud rather than hung only with anchors. Unfortunately, two of the six holes for the hinges aligned with the screws that secured the cement board to the studs. We suggest that you carefully measure your installation prior to tiling, and thereby avoid placing cement board screws where hinge screws will need to go. Additionally, measuring and planning before-hand will assure that you have (or can install) a stud in the correct place. Again, a manufacturer-provided template would come in handy here. (Summary): Overall, though attractive, there are too many issues for us to consider making a positive recommendation to purchase this door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy design I had seen this type of door in Europe but not the US so I was very happy to find it in Home Depot's website. Heavy substantial glass and nice fixtures. My contractor had a little issue with installation because of a lip on my tub but he added a door jam and it works great. No water on the floor after I shower.
