Customer Questions & Answers

How do you open the bi-fold door from inside the shower?

Asked by: jay1
The little knob is double sided. There is a knob both outside and inside the door. (I submitted a review of this door on Aug 9, along with two photos. If the pictures are used, you should clearly see the little knob.)

Does this fit a 36 inch shower opening

Asked by: Scorpio
Scorpio, Unfortunately, the Butterfly will only work for a maximum opening size of 35-1/2". It can not be expanded to 36". The AquaFold (SHDR-3634720-01) is a folding door that is designed to not span the width of the opening. It is 33-1/2" wide and folds inward then pivots outward, if you need it to. It is very contemporary in design and will give you about a 3" opening towards the back of your shower opening. Customers that have purchased the AquaFold really like it and find that water does not escape at the back of the shower. If you would like to call our DreamLine Customer Support Team to discuss this door or other options, please do not hesitate to contact the DreamLine Customer Support Team at 866-731-2244. We are available 8am-7pm EST, Monday through Friday to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your interest in DreamLine.

My shower is 33 3/4 because of the shower wall tile. I understand this is a 34-35inch shower door. Does this door give me 1/4inch to work with?

Asked by: Bryan
Bryan, because your opening measurements are less than 34", the Butterfly will not work for your opening. Unfortunately, you can not install this door in an opening less than 34". If you have any other questions, please contact the DreamLine Customer Support Team at 866.731.2244 or send us an email to support@bathauthority.com. We are available 8am-7pm, Monday through Friday, EST and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for considering DreamLine!

Butterfly 34 in. to 35-1/2 in. x 72 in. Framed Bi-Fold Shower Door in Chrome is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well Center Gasket comes loose when opening the shower, making it difficult to close. A little shot of clear silicone in the channel of the gasket made it stay on. The unit went in very easily and it looks great. I suggest having two people do the installation to assure it is steady and lines-up properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful shower door makes small bathroom bigger We have a small, 3/4-bath off of our bedroom. The old shower had a very narrow door to allow it to swing past the toilet. When we remodeled, we chose to use this beautiful bi-fold shower door so that we could actually make our shower larger. The glass shower door also makes our bathroom feel larger, as well. The bi-fold door folds into the shower, making it easy to get in and out of the shower. Once closed, the doors are completely sealed -- there is no way that water can get out of the shower. Our shower pan is 36" x 36". By the time we had the walls tiled, We had just over a 34" opening making this door a perfect fit. We ordered the doors online from Home Depot and had them delivered to our closest HD. They arrived a few days faster than we expected. My contractor and I assembled and installed the doors. It was a fairly easy process. Once the doors were assembled, hinged and framed, the entire unit fit right in. The frame fastened to the wall with a few screws, and then we ran a tight bead of caulk between the frame and tile on both sides. We highly recommend this product and are very pleased with the look it gives our new bathroom

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets our need in style A standard out-swinging shower door would have hit our bathroom entrance door, so that option was out. We tried using a shower curtain, but it was awful. Water leaked, etc. When I saw this bi-fold door being advertised, I knew I had found the solution. Having read that installation could be troublesome, and being told that Home Depot did not offer installation on this item, I hired a contractor who had previously done work for us. It was a challenge for him and his helper, but they finally got the door installed successfully. It opens in to the only side possible in our shower, but I have no complaints. Water does not leak, and the door is very stylish. Sorry I couldn't get a better photo, but space is so limited in front of the shower that I couldn't get any farther back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small spaces The perfect shower door for tight spaces. I recommend having the door open from the side your shower head is located so you can adjust the temperature easily before stepping in. This location also makes cleaning easier as you won't be opening the door onto your shower head. Also, our there is some wiggle room on size to go a bit larger than 34" but not smaller. So unless you want to fabricate it down, don't buy if you're space is even a 1/4" shy of 34".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Small Bath Solution Frame is light but fine. Hardware is solid and should last. Looks good (other finish choices would be nice). Great solution when there is no room to swing a standard shower door. In a 36" shower stall it's easy to get in and out with this in-folding door. Nicely adjustable for out-of-square or out-of-plumb openings. Only 6 feet high so you'll be ducking under the top rail if you're tall. Price seems a little high but this is WAY better than the leaky shower curtain we had.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Challenge your industrial skills, all ye who enter here. 1 No installation instruction mention of the vinyl gaskets between metal hardware and glass door. These need to be held in place for assembly. Since they are clear they could easily be lost, ignored and result in glass failure. 2. I had to buy an easy-out ($20) to remove 3 of the 8 ST4.2x40 screws that ate-out the philips head before the screws bottomed out. I lubricated the screws before attaching guide rails to profile. Still the screws were of too poor quality to self tap into the extrusion. 3. Illustrations were of good drawing quality, but too faint. Dreamline really must use a heavier line weight if they are going to reduce drawings for customer illustration. 4. Slolppy installation verbage. Brochure cautioned: "Mind the position of the middle hinges on the glass." It would have been far less useless to say something like: The pivot (pin) part of both metal hinges must be on the outside part of the shower doors." 5. I wish the installation instructions had suggested how tight to torque the screws holding metal parts around glass. 6. Re item 15, there were no pre-drilled holes in the Wall Profile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect in Every Way Saw this shower door on a website. Packed perfectly and not a scratch on it. It sure is beautiful and transformed my small bathroom to look sharp and spacious.
