It looks like this will require some hardware drilled to the shower pan but I'm not sure? Wondering if it matters that my shower pan is Cast Iron?
Asked by: mom
There's a guide block at the bottom that both glass panels run through. This would be located on the shower curb, not the pan itself. Pre-drill a hole, fill with silicone sealant as well as silicone on the bottom of the block. Screw in. A lot of shower doors require you to drill into the curb. You just need to take the standard waterproofing precautions.

How is the rod fastened through the wall to the studs?

Are the ends of the bar screwed through the wall into a stud? What kind of "reinforcement" can I use?

Multiple questions: Please help

The opening width of my shower space is 55.25" on the bottom and 55.5" on the top. Will your door have the required .25" adjustment to make up the difference? I see the minimum suggested width is 56". Does this mean that the opening to enter and exit the shower in my case would simply be approximately 1-inch less, which would be acceptable to me. Also, when looking into my shower stall, the showerhead is on the right wall, but it appears the sliding door is also on the right side, in front of my toilet. I understand that it is reversible and that I may put the fixed panel on the right side, with the sliding door on the left side. But since the water will be coming from the right side, will this post a potential leakage problem? If so, may I correct the problem by installing the fixed panel on the inside right wall where my showerhead is and the sliding door on the outside instead, opening from left to right?
Asked by: Sundance2000
Yes You can. I put my affixed panel next to my sink and the shower head in on the same side. Does not pose any issues. Actually nice that you reach in turn on the shower. Perfecto! The door has stoppers to adjust the opening. Unfortunately walls are very seldom plum. Don't worry you wont get water on the floor.

But seriously, this is beautiful and well-made shower door. I’m a DIYer who started a master-bathroom shower conversion about a year ago. My wife and I are very budget-minded; we buy only when materials are on sale/clearance--and then only when we have the cash to do so. We chose the Enigma-X because it looked the most “custom” at the lowest price. We love the frameless look with the rollers on top. Still, this door was a bit of a splurge for us (it was the single biggest purchase of the entire project.) Being a DIYer on a budget, I installed it with my wife’s help. I’ve never hung a shower door before (never hung ANY door, actually.) However, if you’re mechanically-inclined like most DIYers are, this won’t be outside your abilities. No need to pay for professional installation. As others have stated, read through and understand the instructions first! I read it during lunch breaks while I was at work. As has already been pointed out; the glass panels are HEAVY!! It’s made of the same type of thick glass you see used as doors and glass walls in commercial buildings. Unless you have arms like Arnold, this is the aspect you’ll definitely need help with. Keep the corner protectors on. Once in an upright position I put the panels on my skateboard to move into position. I deviated from the instructions a little at one point (gasp!) They have you install the bar onto the stationary glass first then position the whole thing (glass panel and bar) into the doorway to level off and mark exactly where the bar needs to be attached to the walls. Someone needs to hold it steady while you do this. This was very awkward to move around in our small bathroom. Instead, I attached only one end of the bar to the panel so it hung down parallel to the door. Once the glass panel was in position on the shower curb, I could then swing the bar up to attach on the other end. Additionally, after the guide bar was attached to the walls, I used a plumb line to ascertain the position of the metal block that the door and stationary panel ride through on the curb. I found that the guide bar sits directly above the center point of that block. This helped greatly with making sure the glass was sitting perfectly upright. This will all make sense once you read the instructions. With the supplied hardware, there is about 1/8” to 1/4” of adjustments you can make in all directions to level and plumb the door. So you have to be fairly precise with your leveling, but not exact.

Installation is definitely left to a pro. The opening must be plumb and square or nothing will work, so the opening has to be worked on first. My contractor did the walls and tile in the opening and we used a Kohler shower pan, making sure everything was ready for the door. The instructions are not really all that clear and we had to call the company and found that the instructions had been changed a bit as had one of the door parts. The manual looks like a 4th-generation copy and the parts drawings are barely discernable. I put the drawings through PhotoShop to enhance them so they could be read. That being said, all the items in each assembly step were in numbered boxes and even had an Allen wrench included if needed (even if the same wrench was also in another box). We spent at least half a day deciphering the instructions and looking over and matching all the parts and talking to the manufacturer. The hardware was done the first day, the glass on the second. Somewhat of a pain, but the final result was well worth the effort.

Very classy and the actual doors are very heavy duty (each weighs at least 90 lbs). Slides perfectly and effortlessly. Couldn't be more pleased , exceeds my expectations. Makes the whole bathroom look upscale. Only one issue per my contractor who performed the installation. Instructions were difficult to understand. Between two seasoned construction men they had a really difficult time with the installation instructions. Took them a whole day. I purchased the polished chrome and is beautiful. This door MAKES the bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional looking product at less than half of the price So had finished tiling a shower (first time) and had wanted to get a high end shower door. I was initially concerned that this was going to be a difficult install and also there was slight lippage between my tiles on the mounting surface. The walls were plumb so that was not an issue. It took me and my wife approximately 3 hours to install these and probably about 3 tries and 30 minutes to adjust them. We are very happy with the door and it looks great. The only difference between this door and a 1500-2000 dollar door is that there is an overlap of about 4" between the glass pieces because it is not custom cut

Plan on at least two strong folks to install the thing. A metal-cutting chop saw is also needed (upper pipe must be clean, flush and correct or the project will go off the rails early). Stainless fasteners are not forgiving, so use of a cordless drill should be limited. Fortunately spares are provided. It provides a great finishing touch to just about any bathroom.

I would recommend that you have it installed by a professional installer. My husband did it himself but it wasn't easy. Took him a whole day. Door is well built, glass is thick. It literally just glides. I absolutely love it!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Water issue Love the doors look. However, the moving door has an issue with water coming down the door over the outer shower shelf onto the floor resulting in a puddle on the floor. Is there some sort of rubber seal for the bottom of this door to prevent this?
