Answer:
This should work. However, when the door closes it will need to come flush against some barrier, to prevent it possibly swinging in and putting unanticipated stress on the hinges and glass they attach to. You should be able to mount to your wall a half-inch wide strip of some solid material that would serve this purpose.

We had this unit professionally installed and everything was perfectly aligned after just one adjustment shortly after installation. Since then, after about two months of use, the shower door is difficult to close and we can't figure out how to adjust the supports or hinges to make the door close. Our contractor, who installed the unit for us, can't figure it out either.

Can anyone give us some advice? The shower is custom-built with travertine walls and tile flooring.

If I remember correctly, there is basically no adjustability: the gap between the two fixed panels must be exactly the specified value at both the bottom and top of the door. There is some adjustment in the door height above the base. Does the door hit the fixed panel glass when it closes? All along the edge, or just near the top/bottom? There is some adjustment in the door height above the base. Does the door hit the fixed panel glass when it closes? All along the edge, or just near the top/bottom? When I first installed my shower the door was hitting the fixed panel at the top, only, probably due to the panel not being perfectly plumb. I was able to use spare rubber gaskets to "shim" the panel at the top bracket and bring it back to plumb without having to remove, drill new holes, remount. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy, great looking. My primary concern in purchasing a frameless glass shower enclosure was safety and sturdiness, particularly since I will have guests (including sometimes children) that will be using the shower. I am very satisfied with the sturdiness and quality of the 5/8 inch tempered glass and brass hardware (hinges and wall and base brackets). If you have walls and/or a base that is not absolutely perfectly level/plumb then installation can be very, very challenging. I installed it myself, with a friend, and even though we had built walls to be plumb and the base to be level, there were inevitably some issues here and there after finishing. Along one wall we were left with a gap that grew from 0 inches to at least 0.5 inches. I was able to fill it in with a clear silicone caulk, but may later have to replace it with a shaved piece of rubber strip. Caution: the glass sheets are very heavy and need to be handled with care. The instructions do not adequately warn you about several critical things: the fixed panels are not symmetric (there is a "top" and "bottom," and you could accidentally mount it upside down and end up with holes drilled into your tile in the wrong places; the door should be carefully shimmed at the bottom so aid in aligning it with and mounting it to the hinges on the fixed panel). Some of these things are discussed more explicitly in installation manuals found online. Bottom line is that the two of us, with high grade suction cups, spent a good part of a day getting it installed. The finished product is very nice and very solid. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great This shower enclosure really looks good. Quality construction, as you will see by just how heavy the glass is. I must say it looks even better now that it is installed than we could have hoped for. February 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by damaged product The product arrived with the top edge of one pain of glass chipped. This was identified when we unpacked the product at the house. The edge is noticeable for about 6". We did not bother to go through the return process since we waited two weeks to get it and we figured there would be great debate with regard to how/when the damage occurred. May 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Unit Glass and hardware are excellent quality. Good installation instructions. Glass is very heavy. Minimum two person installation job. Walls and floor must be perfectly level and plumb. There is minimal room for leveling adjustment. Hardest part of job is hanging and leveling door on hinges in last step of installation due to weight. Be sure to get a bundle of cedar stake shims to assist with door installation. November 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I purchase all my home improvement materials at Home Depot The product looks to be very good quality. I have not had the opportunity to install it yet. I have to finish installing the tile first, December 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful!!!!!! Easy install. Looks great. Has a very sleek look. Just what we wanted. January 28, 2014
