Tool work great until the batteries (both of them )that came with the unit died on me. Left the battery on the charge overnight. Last only a few minutes chipping away pine board.

I've had my Dremel cordless multimax tool for over year now and I must say I'm not happy with the power. I've attempted some of the most basic cutting jobs with the tool and it ran out of power and overheated. I think the cordless version lacks the power of the corded version. Should have got that version.

My wife gave me this as a Christmas present a couple years ago and I thought it was a pretty neat little gadget, though I didn't have much use for it at the time. Now that we are homeowners, I have "attempted" to use the Multi-Max on numerous occasions only to be disappointed in it's functionality - most notably the battery life. One battery has worked irregularly from the time I first used the unit and the other barely lasts 15 minutes of regular use. I use it mostly for light sanding and trimming the "fringes" off cut boards. It might be a good hobbyist tool, but there are likely better tools available. Wish I would have brought it back and gotten the corded option.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Armyhogrider1 Absoluted a waste of money!
When I initially received this as a Christmas gift I was excited. The tool worked great but after using it only a few times, noticed the battery would die quickly if the substance I was cutting was hard or difficult to cut through. After a year the batteries don't last more than 4 minutes of use and they must be slid out of the bottom then slammed back into the tool just to work. Absolutely not the tool to get for longevity or quality. Don't waste your money. I'm supposed to get a new corded one this Christmas and if that doesn't work, I'm done with dremmels.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Anthony35 DO NOT BUY THIS!!
I purchased one because they had it on sale at Home Depot. I took it home and charged 1 battery over night. Then in the morning, I replaced the battery and put the new one in. I went to use it with a fresh battery. It turns on, then shuts off within seconds. Then the battery light flashes. I swap batteries, and the other battery does the same but it lasts for about 30 seconds before it starts flashing.
I went to return it to home depot, and they no longer had any in stock. I want to exchange it.. but there are none around anywhere.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mark Great tool, but not great batteries
I received this for a Christmas gift from my wife. It was a great gift! But, when I started to use the product, as already noted, the batteries are BAD. One stopped to holding the charge and now the other is in the same state.
So now I'm looking for replacement batteries, but since this was purchased in Dec., I doubt that HD will help in any way, but I have not made the call yet. Unless you really need a cordless tool, burchase a model with a cord. Maybe dremel will come out with a 18V. model...

My wife bought me this for Christmas 2 years ago, the first time I used it was last summer on a project notching out a few boards. with a full charge on both battery's I started, the saw only lasted a total of 8 minutes that was for both battery's. Rather than taking the item back and hurting her feelings I stored it for smaller uses. Fast forward to now, I am remodeling our home, I can't run the machine more than half speed or it fails flashing all 3 lights. I would not recommend this to anyone and from reading the reviews I see it is a key issue with a lot of people here. I think you should do a recall.
