This tool is a must for every household. I have been wanting my grandson to get one for years, and finally was able to get him one with the Home Depot credit card,,which is very good also.

Purchased this Dremel for use in installing new trim and baseboards. Makes an easy job of getting the right fit for joints.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hootie Great tool, not so great storage case.
I bought this as a replacement set for my fiance, who lost all of his tools including his Dremel when our house was robbed. I read the reviews of several rotary tools, including some from different manufacturers before I settled on this one. The rotary tool itself is great, he's already used it sever times in the week or so that he's had it, but the storage case leaves alot to be desired. One side of the rear hinge is already cracked. But overall, a great tool, backed by a trusted name. He's already used his for smoothing jagged edges on a metal shelf, cutting broken galvanized screws, and helping our son with his pinewood derby car for Boy Scouts.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RobotBuilder I've been using Dremel rotary tools for seven years.
I build robot assemblage sculptures made out of found objects. I use the Dremel 3000 almost every day.
It's been great for cutting metal and various types of plastic, such as Bakelite. I use it to cut threaded rods up to 1/2 inch thick, I cut screws, metal tubes, plastic, PVC, wood, and probably a bunch of stuff I can't remember. I also use it to sand all the things I cut with it. I prefer to use 60 grit sanding bands.
I would not be able to make a living without this tool. This, and a hand drill, are the essentials I work with.
Additionally, because these are so cheap, I use one just for cutting, and one just for sanding, so I don't have to waste time constantly switching between cut-off wheels and sanding bands.. The Dremel is so inexpensive, that when I sell just one of my sculptures, I have easily covered the cost of the two Dremels I use. To save time, I recommend the EZ Lock 1-1/2 in. Metal Cut-Off Wheels (12-Pack). They last longer than the Dremel 1-1/4 in. Fiberglass - Reinforced Cut-Off Wheels, and are a bit bigger. And the EZ lock makes it much quicker to change cut-off wheels. I have sold hundreds of my sculptures, and have a lot of experience using this tool, and can't imagine what life would be like without it. For me, it is a must-have item, and I would recommend it to anyone. If you are buying one for the first time, I recommend buying extra accessories, such as cut-off wheels, sanding bands, or whatever you intend to use it for. It comes with a bunch of stuff, but if you plan on using this tool often and over a long period of time, you'll probably need replacements. The relplacements are inexpensive, so it's not a big deal.
Also, if you are using it to cut stuff, I highly recommend getting a 3 inch vise for $20 dollars at Home Depot if you don't already have one.
P.S. - Remember to always wear eye protection.
