Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hootie Great tool, not so great storage case.
I bought this as a replacement set for my fiance, who lost all of his tools including his Dremel when our house was robbed. I read the reviews of several rotary tools, including some from different manufacturers before I settled on this one. The rotary tool itself is great, he's already used it sever times in the week or so that he's had it, but the storage case leaves alot to be desired. One side of the rear hinge is already cracked. But overall, a great tool, backed by a trusted name. He's already used his for smoothing jagged edges on a metal shelf, cutting broken galvanized screws, and helping our son with his pinewood derby car for Boy Scouts.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DVic This product has great precision
Like any hand tool, this product takes a few runs to get the hang of, however, once you get the hang of it, it's precision is matchless.

I really love this thing...it does so much! There's all kinds of attachments and bits to keep me busy with my little projects. On the creative side it's fun from woodworking to glass-etching. On the fix-it side, it's come in handy for sharpening my lawnmower blade and removing stripped screws. There's so many applications! My only complaint is that you can only get replacement motor brushes directly from Dremel. I see Home Depot has motor brushes for other Dremel products but for whatever reason Dremel makes it difficult to acquire one for the 3000. It doesn't even list the part number on the website. I had to ask on the Dremel website's live chat.

I have wanted to purchase a Dremel for years, and finally bought one on sale at Home Depot. The Bosch rep (Bosch owns Dremel) happened to be at the store when I was looking, and helped me select the best version for my intended usage. The Dremel has already been used to drill out a laundry tub to make room for a larger faucet and to sand and file smaller items around the house. It will only get more use as I get ready to regrout a shower and repair additional items. The attachment kit has a number of sanding, grinding and polishing items that will be very useful going forward. Be sure to let the high rpms of this tool do the work, without applying undue pressure, and the Dremel will quickly pay for itself.

Hi, as a power tool repair technician of 15 years, I had a shop in the back of the plant where they brought me power tools and many other things that weren’t bolted down. We had a lot of Dremels throughout the plants and these always provided good service, as mine has to this point.
A few individuals did manage to burn up an armature now and then, and I replaced a few output shaft bearings from high use areas and a few managed to destroy their shaft locking buttons or the cords. Not bad for tools that are in heavy use all day by workers who are not responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Dremels did not come in very often though, and I came to regard them as a very good product that did not require service very often.
Now to mine. I chose the model 3000, and also a Dremel model 2500-01 vise that has a connector for a Dremel rotary tool that holds the tool very well, and at many angles, thank you. The tool is not too heavy or bulky for me, it runs quietly and without excessive vibration, though clamping it in the vise can magnify the sound through the table. I have not encountered bogging down under use, though I am not one to apply heavy loads under most circumstances. The speed control has enough positions so that it does not leave me needing an in-between speed and wishing I had sprung for an infinitely variable speed model (though I love them, they cost more).
I also have a Dremel drill chuck thing that I really love. It is a tiny drill chuck that is not a lot bigger than the OEM chuck and is very handy for, you guessed it, drill bits, as it is fully adjustable throughout its range and it works very well.
Overall, I am very happy with my acquisition and hope for many years of happy use.
