Answer:
It would, but not very efficiently. There's much better tools for that job, ie sawzall. undercut saw (cheaper too). Of course being that this question is a year and a half old, you probably figured it out by now!

The answer to your question is, "Yes."
I might ask you, however, if this is a one time deal or how many studs do you have to cut? If you're cutting numerous studs (like Red Head anchors) from your floor, you might want to go to an angle grinder instead of a Dremel tool. The Dremel is designed to do precise, close-up work and grinding studs from cement floors is more crude and larger-scale. Just my Read More

Answer:
no, it is for thinner material.... it will cut bolts, metal les than 3/8", wood less than an 1 thick... you will need a heavy duty grinder or similar for thicker material.... you can cut thicker than my estimates, but its tough going..... its for more intricate work..... not heavy construction work

Hi odsgnob,
Dremel tools are designed for the hobbyist, and are not designed for heavy duty work.
You will need a reciprocating saw for that project.

Answer:
With practice and the right attachments you could or should. I have used mine to cut 1/8 inch plastic. It takes time and the right speed. If it is set to wrong it melts the plastic instead of giving you a nice cut.

I have used mine for mostly wood because that is why I bought it. However, I have cut and engraved plastic, cut light weight metal parts, etched ceramic tiles, and many other things. With the correct bit or attachment you can do so many light duty things. I suggest doing a Google/Youtube search to see all that persons are doing with this tool. I have yet to use all of the bites and attachments that came with mine plus new parts that I have received from the kids as gifts. Read Less

Will it sharpen my mower blades as good as angle grinder

I noticed on the pictures for the 4200 ez change there is a stock marketing photo showing the ez change dremmel sharpening a mower blade. I was going to purchase a dewalt angle grinder for this, but figured i would get more use out of the dremmel around the house for other various projects. Does the 4/36 kit with the 4000 series dremmel include what i would need to sharpen my mower blades?

Probably not very efficiently. You can purchase a sharpening guide for the dremel, but I'd think the sharpening would be slow compared to a grinder.

Answer:
Yes, just as well as any grinder with the right bit. Keep in mind this is a precision tool so it may take a little more time because it covers a smaller surface area than most angle or bench grinders. As far as power and ability I've used this model to sharpen cut shape and carve all deferent types and gauges of steel and metals.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dremel 4000 series Bought this Dremel for a furniture renovation requiring sanding in small hard to reach places. This was recommended to me. When I got home and tried to use this thinking this would be ready to use. In other words a complete kit. Well low and behold this kit does not come with the collets in order to connect the different attachments. So now I have to go back to Home Depot to get the collets. Home Depot is a thirty minute drive for me. So can't really say if this product works yet. So for now can't recommend it. They should at least include one collet so you can try the thing. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by love it!! I owned a dremel years ago. I recently purchased this 4000 model and forgot how powerful and versatile this tool is. It does everything! Cant go wrong with the name DREMEL!! Highly recommended! February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun and functional I got this for my wife as a gift because her old one finally gave up the ghost and died on her. She is ecstatic with this new more powerful model and loves the tool set that came with and the additional tools I got her. Not only can she do all of the crafts and projects she has always done, but now she seems to be inspired to find and do more. June 29, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dremel 4000 The dremel worked good for about 4-5 days and then it just stopped working. But they exchanged it with no problem. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dremel 4000 - one useful tool! I've had a basic Dremel rotary tool for about 20 years with a few additional bits added over the years. One of the primary uses is for sharpening chainsaw chains, although I use it often as a cut-off tool and the sanding drums for removing rust from metal and material from wood. Very handy and usefull tool. I recently purchased the Dremel 4000 because of the additional attachments that were included, specifically the two that allow one to use it as a mini router. I also recently used my Dremel with the cut off wheel to clean up cuts on a wall tileing project. Thoroughly pleased with the performance. Plan to take my original Dremel to the cabin so l'm never without it! February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Product This set has many attachments and many uses. My whole family has enjoyed using this product! March 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by a little short on low speed power but still a fantastic tool I bought a corded 4000 last fall (about 6 months ago) I use it a lot for carving wood. it has very low power at low speeds and higher speeds tend to scorch the wood, but I can work around that. The problem is, I've already had to replace the brushes - is this normal - other than that I am very happy with it. April 19, 2016
