Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead After Two Projects I would rate this lower than one if I could. I recently elected to replace my 30 year old Dremel tool so I purchased the 4200 rotary tool about a year ago. It is dying after the second project. I cannot express how disappointed in the quality of the 4200 after the longevity of my original Dremel. The tool appears to have suffered a bearing failure and is excessively loud and also "freezes up" while running under load. I have looked at the repair chart and the cost for repair is nearly what I paid for the tool. I would not recommend this tool to anyone not experienced enough to perform internal component repairs themselves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working After turning it on it worked for 30 seconds and it turned off never to turn back on. Very disappointed after the expense and how highly this brand came recommended. Then still needed the tool so we had to purchase the 4300 as the store had no other 4200s. Took 4300 home and it wouldn't even turn on. I was furious and didn't want to even try again. Ultimately my fiance convinced me to try once more. So we returned for a 3rd time and again bought another 4300. Had the store test both the broken one and the next one. It did turn on and has worked since but I'm still very skeptical and hesitant to recommend these products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped Working Almost Immediately! Extremely disappointed in Dremel's product. Having used the product less than a dozen times, for perhaps a total of 1 hour of use, the 4200 now won't turn on. Completely unacceptable for the cost of this tool. When I went to use it last night, it turned on and I used it for about 20 seconds. Turned it off and went to turn it on again and nothing. In looking for potential causes online, it seems that many people have had similar issues with the 4200. I checked all the usual suspects listed on Dremel's website, and none of them solved my issue. For a product that was rather expensive, i'm extremely disappointed that it didn't work as intended, and now cannot complete the project for my brother that I told him I'd take care of.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EZ Change lever will not return to Lock Position I bought this a couple of months ago, but just took it out of the box a couple of weeks ago. I used it a few times, but now the EZ Change lever seems to be jammed in the unlock position. I removed the collet and repositioned a few times. The lever will not even move to lock position with the collet removed! If it wasn't for this problem, I would be able to give a much higher review, as it seemed to work great before this happened. I was looking through some of the less favourable reviews from other people, and noticed a common answer from Dremel - that you would get in touch with them personally. It would be much more helpful if you actually posted some suggestions or answers for some of these reviews so that others could benefit from them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from performance issues I have owned a 200 series Dremel for several years and it is a fantastic tool. I while back I decided to upgrade to the 4200. I elected to buy a package deal that had some attachments as well (it was pricey but given my experience I felt it was worth it). When I brought it home plugged it in and nothing happened. After quite some time and some internet searches, I determined something was wrong with it. I returned it to the store and with quite a bit of apprehension I exchanged it for another one just like it. This one seems to be working great but each time I use it I am worried it might not turn on. All and all I love the products Dremel produces and this one works great (now). The first try was very frustrating and time consuming but the working model is a fantastic tool.

Main reason is that the chuck is a quick set type that you merely use your fingers to push the install portion and insert the bit. The same to remove them. The troubling part is that Dremel is no longer producing this model and upon checking new and current products, none now have the bit chuck as does this model. I purchased two of this model that I have located so far. Excellent product and used extensively for a multitude of projects.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing This is my first Dremel tool. I bought it specifically as a small router to do inlay work. Unfortunately, it is basically useless for that purpose because the router bits "pull" out of the chuck and drill down into the wood making it impossible to get a cut of constant depth, or worse cutting all the way through the base wood. The chuck on this thing is very poorly designed.
