Your question showed up on my screen after writing a review -- looks like you posted it 6 months ago and I'm sure you've used your dremel now for 5 probably. I had the same problem but just now this past month I've seen the home depots carrying the 4200 model.

You should have an option to apply discounts when you purchase this product online during your checkout process. You can also get assistance with a Home Depot associate using a chat if you encounter a problem with your credit card and/or coupon during your purchasing process.

Try a special order at your local HD. Maybe they will apply the military discount. If that doesn't work, see if HD online will give you the discount with a notarized letter from your CO stating you are active duty.

This is the newest Dremel product, and I think it's still fairly limited in availability. The manufacturer's website says that it will be available in stores in mid-January. As for applying your military discount, I think you'll have to talk to Home Depot's customer service.
Thanks for your service to our country!

Hi Hank;
I would suggest that you contact Home Depot Customer service about the discount question. I know that the 4200 is a very new model, and I suspect that it has not been distributed to the local stores yet. The unit I received came directly from Dremel, through Home Depot online.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Bits keep flying out and dropping down when using the plunge router attachment ruining projects -and now there's a hole in our subfloor. Thought it couldn't get worse -now it's stuck in the plunge router - plastic threading must be stripped. April 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Died within 1 year! My husband has really loved this, he has used it a good bit over the last year. But the part that locks the head in broke then the motor went out, all happened right around the 1 year mark. He called dremel and they were very friendly and told him to send it back.. I sent it back right before Christmas and received a brand new one the Monday following Christmas, so literally within a week they had us a new tool...and an accessory was sent in the box as an apology for the troubles... So product may not be wonderful, but the manufacturers customer service is great! December 29, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Confidence is shaken Pulled it out of the case to use it for the second time, did a few cuts, went to measure for fit then went back to make more cuts and the thing is dead. Wont start at all. Tried different outlets, blew it out with air tried different attachments, nothing.... Dead. TWO uses and it is now an overpriced paperweight !! February 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best Dremel Yet The new Dremel 4200 with EZ change is without a doubt the best moto tool released by them yet and is hands down the best moto tool for any homecraftsman or hobbiest. I've been using Dremels for 25 years, and still use my trusty model 395 to this day. The build quality of the 4200 is as quality as ever. I can see this tool lasting just as long as my old model, of not longer. It has a nice heavy feel in the hand and the new style body is thick and robust. First on the list of great features, the new EZ Change system. No more tools to change the bits! Slide the lever back, swap bits and go. That's it. A few seconds. It's as simple as that. No finger chucks, no wrenched collets. Second best feature is what I can describe as torque control. You set the tool for 10,000rpm, and even under load it holds 10,000rpm. No other rotary tool does that. It equates to controlled work in any conditions. Keeping the bit at a consistent speed makes quick work of any task and also means no more having to back off and let the tool gain speed before cutting, grinding or buffing anymore. This kit comes with numerous attachments (see product specs list) that bought seperate will cost you quite a bit. All included in the durable and attractive included carrying case. The case has room for all the included attachments, bits and has room for extra flex shaft, and other attachments you can buy later. All the attachments easily screw on and off in moments. The inluded pistol grip and mower blade sharpener are my favorite included attachments. Both come in very handy around the house and garage. The circle cutter will be handy for hanging drywall or cutting shapes. If you own any old Dremel add-on equipment like the drill press, this model will still fit into it as well. Are you looking for a new rotary tool? Get the new Dremel 4200 with EZ Change. You won't be disappointed. In fact, get two, because once your friend borrows it, you may never get it back! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great upgrade to the Dremel tool This is the 2nd Dremel tool I've owned and I have to say wow. The addition of the quick change was long overdue. I never understood why there wasn't a key-less chuck system for the Dremel tools, and there still isn't. ha. The quick change is handled by pulling back two levers on the front near the collet. This is such a great improvement and greatly increases the utility of this device. The kit itself comes with more attachments than I'm ever likely to use, but I'm excited about the circle cutter as I'm doing a bathroom project later this month and it will come in handy. The tool itself has 5k-35k rpm and is very versatile. Comes in a great hard case too. If you have an older Dremel that you use a lot or if you were ever thinking of getting one, this is the piece to upgrade to or to get for your first kit. The only suggestion I would make is to get a pair of safety glasses if you don't already have one. For the price you'd expect them to throw a pair in the box since it seems to have everything else in it already. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Golden Compass of Tools: Is that all? +5 STARS Invented to show all that was hidden, this is the Golden Compass (a movie & book reference) of tools for a storyteller/craftsperson and DIYER. A tool particularly for a storyteller with RA. Several years ago, knowing nothing about this tool but the fact it was being used to do Case Mods for computer cases, I asked a store manager giving a Women's Seminar at my Home Depot to see the tool. He ripped open a new box with a Dremel in it and had it demonstrated. That's my Home Depot. I acquired a cordless dremel 2nd hand, the battery did'nt hold a charge. I continued to acquire accessories, stockpiling them and reading about their uses. With no experience using a Dremel but years of experience with accessories, I took delivery of my 4200 EZ change. . Endless uses, limited only by your imagination, for DIY homeowner projects and for storytellers. It comes with well written manuals and flyers describing specific attachments. Sign up at the Dremel website for their Weekender project newsletter, the page referenced in the literature has changed. Received my first project demo within a week, it demos how to cut the guts out of a book. Created a great staging prop for filmmakers and detective story buffs. A person with flaring RA in their hands but arm strength can press down on the lever system and change accessories. The EZ drum mandrel had to be attached to the Rotary tool and pulled up to attach the sanding band. That's different than the accessory I tested for my earlier non-working tool, the collett made changing tools slow. It's powerful. The sanding band slipped down on the EZ drum while using it, but I was using it with hard pressure to test a tall wood project where I want to simulate the texture of animal hair. I'm new to sculpting wood. The variable speeds, I tried all of them, ripped off the top layer of bad wood quickly. My electric sander could not do that. Although I've dozens of sanding bands, I might glue sand paper on them as they wear out for this larger project. The Rotary tool is easy to grip, with rubber grips. The off/on button moves up and down without added pain to arthritic hands. When sanding the tool doesn't appear too hot. The electrical cord is sturdy and has a 2" sliding protector to keep it from twisting. The tool comes in a case with accessories and several attachments. The attachments are priced somewhat high individually. The Dremel rotary tool has been around for decades and many DIY sites online have information on using this for home repair as well as filmmaker's miniatures. December 30, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dremel still top quality I have used a Dremel (395) tool for about 18 years and this newer model is a nice upgrade to an established brand. The tool itself is a couple of inches longer than my old 395 and bit heftier too. I like the fact that the switch and the speed control are now separate, I can leave the speed setting and switch on and off as needed. The big change is of course the EZ Change feature that allows different accessories to be changed out very quickly, by pulling two levers back, the collet is opened. The levers do not get in the way when using the tool. The 4200 kit comes with a 1/8" collet and three smaller collets are available. In addition to various attachments such as a circle cutter, cutting guide, tool sharpener, a shield and a grinding guide a good selection of cutting wheels, sanding drums and bits are included. The cutting wheels are the newer type EZ Lock and EZ Drum design which allow the cutting disks and sanding drums to be changed very quickly. It all feels solid and looks well engineered. My first jobs were sharpening an old blade bit (see picture) and also cutting a hole in the ceiling to make provide access to the attic. The tools performed perfectly and I had no issues at all. I don't care much for the plastic cases that these types of tool come in, Most of the accessories never seem to stay in place and I find it easier to keep the bigger items in a box and the cutters in smaller drawers which are easier to manage. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Improvements on a tried and ture tool. Dremel 4200 tool kit; I received this product through the Home Depot SEEDS program. The 4200 Dremel tool is one of the newest versions of this tried and true tool. The power unit, or Dremel tool drive motor has a new “wrench-less” collet system. Unlike previous Dremel tools, that had the screw down chuck with a wrench to tightened the collets, this new tool has a quick, spring loaded collet tightening system. No wrench needed, simply pull back on the two Blue collet release tabs, and insert a tool bit, the release the spring loaded tabs, and your tool bit is installed and secure. Quick, simple and fast. The new collet system seems to grip the tool bits very tightly, tighter than I would have expected. The model 4200 kit came with only the 1/8 inch collet installed, but other size collets are coming out for this new model. The collets can be removed and installed with a pair of needle nose pliers. The kit comes with an assortment of tool bits, adapters, and accessories. The new “EZ lock” mandrel and “EZ Drum” mandrel are also included. With these two quick change mandrels, you can install and removed cutting disks, sanding disks and drums, or polishing disks with ease. This is a far better method than the older screw on mandrels of the past. Both of these new Quick change adapters provide a positive grip on the sanding disk, drum, or cutting wheel that you install. The kit comes with a main manual, and several one page mini-manuals that cover individual accessories. The Dremel power unit has a variable speed adjustment to cover the 5000 ~ 35000 RPM range. The adjustment dial has approximate RPM indications embossed on it so that you can select the speed range that you want to work with. The motor control circuit has a “soft start” feature to limit the startup torque surge, and it also features a control to maintain the RPM setting under varying load conditions. I have used older model Dremel tools in the past, and based on the new features of this model, it should make bit changing a lot easier and faster. Other than than trying a few simple things with this unit, so far I haven’t put it to real use yet. I want to purchase a few of the miniature router bits and the router base for some woodworking tasks. I use full size, and trimmer size routers a good deal, and the 4200 should complement their use for small detail work. Observations; The Dremel power unit’s construction “feels” solid in your hand, the overall workmanship of the product is very good. There is rubber cover over some areas of the plastic body of the unit to provide a better grip and prevent slippage while holding it. The ON-OFF slide switch has a positive detent, and there are easy access covers for brush inspections and changes. Overall, I find this to be a very nice tool, and it should provide years of use. I hope this information may be helpful. December 26, 2012
