I would prefer to use this tool to carve a pumpkin than a knife. It made following a stencil easy and it was much more fun to use. I did however have a false start. I tried to make the Patriots logo. I created my own stencil by making the logo black and white. My mistake happened because I made the logo to small. to make sure it was the logo and not my inability to use the tool correctly I used one of the stencils that were provided with the tool. I think it came out pretty good, I have attached a picture for you to have your own opinion.

This is a battery operated tool and does not have a long battery life. I had to change batteries twice just to finish one pumpkin with minimal detail. The tool vibrates a lot and with the small bit that comes with the tool it causes hand cramps if used for extended periods of time. I would recommend investing the extra money for the non-cordless option or the cordless one with a bigger battery than a 9 volt. If you choose to go with this one consider purchasing a bigger bit and plastic drop plastic sheets because it does get messy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MeCzech Nice and safe to use product
This is the safest tool for pumpkin carving especially when used by kids. My 12 years old grandson enjoyed it while working on his pumpkin. The carver is operated by 4 AA batteries easy accessible on the bottom and strongly attached to the carver. The kit also provides 10 different carving patterns suggestions - half with simple and half with more tricky designs. Using the carver is simple, just push the button and carving head attached to body starts rotating and you can start carving.
The way as the carving bit operates causes releasing pumpkin juices and we found the paper pattern attached to the pumpkin not to be too practical. It became saggy. It would be easier to draw the pattern directly on the pumpkin and then to carve. Also, the instructions say, the carving should not be cut thru the wall. It suggests only removing or thinner or thicker layer of pumpkin wall. In that case the lit up candle placed inside of pumpkin quickly dies, because if we cover the pumpkin with the cutout “lid” the candle flame does not get oxygen. This tool is for use by all generations, no problems with dull knifes or knife injuries.

The drill was easy to assemble and use. I'd like to return this item in order to upgrade to the Dremel drill kit that has more tools included. I must say that I was pleased with the Dremel brand and trust that I'll have more fun with the replacement!

My first experience with this product on a pumpkin was less than positive. Could be me, but I had to use a knife to cut crisp edges before using dremel with the only bit supplied. I think with some different attachments this could be a more serviceable tool. I still haven't figured out with the wrench is for. I may or may not use it again for a pumpkin. It appears to be more usable for a harder surface like wood. The pumpkin tissue was too soft and wet for detail. Was just hoping batteries would hold out for one big pumpkin.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Eddie P Pumpkin Carving Dremel a FLOP
This product was a gimmick for people who are familiar with Dremel which is a very cool tool. This one is a battery operated one disguised as a "Pumpkin Carving Tool" and all it does is the same thing all dremels do. If your going to make customers happy then there should have been an assortment of cutting blades in their specifically designed for pumpkin carving!!!!!!! It was a waste of money period.

The tool works great but should be described as a pumpkin shaver instead.
