Can this be used for circles on currogated metal roofing sheets? Or does the cutting surface need to be flat?

Im looking for the best thing for circles and straight cuts on corrogated metal roofing sheets with my dremel 3000
Asked by: Chris
Think it would be difficult to impossible. The centering rod (nail) is not very long.

Circle Cutter Attachment 3/4 in. to 12 in. Diameter is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little circle cutter I used this to cut 6" holes through 3/4" plywood for some cornhole boards. It worked perfect. I made two passes each time because I was worried about the plywood being so thick. I did break one bit on my 4th board but I think I was trying to go too quickly. This thing works perfect.

The Dremel circle cutter, in my opinion, is in need of a more positive pivot point and knob. As it is, (the workings as manufactured), are somewhat lacking. If the pivot point could be locked in place, allowing the knob to spin freely as it is held firmly to the work, it would greatly improve the its circle-cutting ability and ergonomics. As a side issue, I found, in trying to cut a circle in eighth-inch poplar, with the Dremel wood-cutting bit supplied, the bit was unable to cut the material smoothly without exerting undue pressure and taxing my Dremel Rotary Tool. On other points, however, I found the circle cutter a fair design overall.

Best to pre-drill a hole for the centering rod. One must also understand that you can only cut the hole one time, so you have to make it very close to the final size. Once the cutter goes all the way round you lose the material in the center to stick the centering rod in. You have to account for the width of the Dremel drill bit so the outside of the bit is on/or within the drawn line for your circle. I adjusted mine slightly smaller and sanded 1/16 inch for the rest.

I was installing remodeling can lights in my kitchen. I needed to cut precise circles 5.5 inches. This tool allowed me to do just that. My only complaint was the ruler was marked in inches so i had to measure to insure I had it set for 5.5 inches. Otherwise it worked great.

After getting it set up and starting to cut everything went great for about 4 inches then it vibrated itself loose allowing it to move freely and ruin the cut. Installed a lock washer from my own collection but still after just a little longer of a cut the same issue resurfaced. Very disappointed.

It worked good for marking a circle on sheet metal, but cutting a circle with the proper Dremel and the supplied cutter not so good. I ended up using a handheld jigsaw on the marked circle. This was on 16ga sheet metal.
