The real answer to this question (I just bought one after carefully comparing them) is that the MM45-04 is a 4 AMP tool, which comes with a soft case, and 28 accessories, while the MM45-03 is a 3.5 Amp tool, which comes with a hard case and 22 accessories. I opted for the more powerful tool, as I am a professional remodeler, and that's what counts in a tool like this. I personally don't care about the hard case. My old, first oscillating tool was another brand, with a 2.3 Amp motor, and it would bog down, and even stop, when trying to cut hard, or thick objects. Read Less

Answer:
comes with three 1" flat blades, a sander head with around 10 pieces of sandpaper, one hook blade one carbide wood/metal blade and one half circle blade. I found this tool perfect for very small projects, e. g. cutting a 1" threshold, metal or wood, but too slow for cutting a 1 x 4 or larger. Great with sheetrock though. Makes a lot less dust than normal sawing.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smart purchase Very handy little tool with a big punch. I purchased this tool because I was replacing the threads and risers on my stairwell. It was able to meet all my expectation removing all the liquid nail glue and allowing me to sand those hard to reach areas. November 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great versatile tool. Easy to operate and change tool settings. The speed settings make the job go easier. September 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hard working tool! No job impossible! We bought this tool a month ago for our remodeling project and it has been a life saver. It has cut through hardwood flooring, drywall and studs, especially in hard to reach locations. We bought the MM45 for the convenience of an easy change of bits. As in other reviews, we too have found that accessories other than Dremel come loose and adapters that are available will not fit the MM45. Also we are losing the little teeth which lock in the blade and are very unhappy with that aspect of the tool. We have lost more than half of them. We expected this tool to last a long time and for it to be more robust for the money. Looks like we have to return it to the store. April 11, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool but... After nearly two years it has finally bit the dust. In the last two days of use 5 of the little metal nubs have broken off rendering it useless. I know it's within the two year warranty window but the hassle of having to send it back on my dime is frustrating to say the least. I will be looking at going another direction this time around. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of Junk Switch assembly broke just after warranty ended , no replacement available. one little circuit board blows and the tool is worthless. I have to buy a new tool and it wont be a Dremel. May 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great. I have been remodeling my kitchen and this tool works great for many projects and jobs. May 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Versatile Have used this for several projects since it was purchased. Really makes under cutting base boards and doorway moldings easy and accurate. Have noticed that the clamping flange seems to gradually rotate off of center which positions the cutting blade about 5 to 7 degrees off of the longitudinal centerline of the tool. In stead of the blade pointing straight ahead it points at an angle! It still seems to operate OK but is a little awkward in lining up your cut line. April 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does a lot of different jobs BUT! I'm just a homeowner who bought one while doing some renovations. My first one died after about a year and a half so I bought another one as I had not finished my projects. The second one lasted about a year and a half. Unfortunately have lots tied up in accessories and starting another project so I had to buy a third one. Wish I had of bought another brand now. These are just not built to last. December 26, 2015
