Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Meticularius Too fussy for me
The drill doctor arrived ahead of the predicted delivery schedule. I found the product to be excellent in quality of workmanship, the dvd was clear, and the instructional booklet understandable. The makers have done a good job. I returned it though because for me at my age I felt it was too fussy (although it really is simply to operate once you understand it) and I didn't have enough drill bits to justify the expenditure. One thing I didn't like was that the smallest bit it would sharpen is a 3/32" and I wanted 1/16" which I often use for pilot holes. Were I still in business as a self-employed handyman/repairman then the drill doctor would be a good long term investment.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JB A GREAT Addition to my tool collection
I watched some online videos who were having problems with this unit. I took it out of the box, and it worked flawlessly. Not sure what their problem was but I think it's great and now one of my best purchases.

Since I've gotten a little older,My eyes aren't as good as they used to be,and I've always heard that the drill doctor worked really well,so I decided to research it and found out that most people that had them, liked them,It seemed a little spendy, but I took a chance,I'm sure glad I did.Its a great little machine,I got the larger size because I got some bigger bits from my dad when he passed,God rest his soul.I used to sharpen all my bits at work on the bench grinder but since I've Retired I do everything at home,You can sharpen your bits any where ,in the basement,or the garage, and its light, but built very sturdy,I did purchace to extra grinding wheel ,just in case I use this one up to fast, but I've sharpened an assortment of bits, maybe 30,from 1/8 " to 1/2 " ,and I might add some really chewed up ones, and within no time sharp as can be ,I've also sharpened some Masonary bits and it dose a great job.

After you go through the video and I highly recommend it, this is one of the easiest and fastest machines to learn. This is a great product and is a must for anyone who goes through drill bits.

After reading directions a couple times, and watching video, Was easy to understand how to set up and operate. Re-sharpened about 25 drills in less than an hour, and happy with results. ( All were sharpened to 118 degrees), Have tried split point and was easy to set up. Drills that would no longer cut thru mild steel (1020) are now cutting like a knife thru warm butter. Drill does need to be a couple inches long to fit in chuck and be able to align point for sharpening. 1/8" drill sharpened just as easy as 1/2" . Other than some major wear on old drills that required a lot of turns, would advise that if drill is in fairly good condition that you only go 6-8 turns max and then check to see if additional grinding is necessary. Found that several drills sharpened in less than 8 full turns. Would recommend this to anyone in a heart beat. Wish that had purchased it years ago. Forget the negative comments regarding the plastic housing. Today's plastics are tough and this unit looks up to the task.

Product does a good job of sharpening bits. It is a bit complicated to operate, but the geometry of bit points IS complicated. The video on the CD provided was a great help in figuring out how it operates. Once understood, it is pretty easy to use.

Not as easy as in the directions. 135 degree drill angle drills are difficult to grind. It requires playing around with the relief angle to keep from dulling the cutting edge but it does work. The same with split points on the 135 degree drill angle. It does work but not as easy as the directions make it sound.
