Drill Bit Sharpener is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drill Doctor XP2 I bought the Drill doctor xp2 for my boyfriend for Christmas. He loves it. Drill bits that could hardly get through metal now cut through it easily. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with dull drill bits laying around. Well worth the investment.

Would like to have a way of storing the special wrench required when removing the grinding wheel which will not be done for some time and will probably be misplaced in the meantime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well if you read the instructions thoroughly. It is not a simple throw a bit in and sharpen it. You must read the instructions. It talks about bit setup and methods. I've had great luck with just sharpening bits. Not too much luck with cutting a point on them to make the bit cut faster and grab better. It's also a little tough to see if your bits are sharpened the correct angle as the picture in the instructions show. But you start to see the difference the more you do. Also, I have bits made for a quick release chuck that are hex shaped half way and then the bit is normal. These don't work as well because the bit holder is meant for round bits so it makes it tough to get the bit started at the right angle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An amazing tool... Having been a plant engineer/machinist for many years in the past I have for yet more years sharpened twist drills by hand. Now retired with arthritis and a bit of a quake I have been having difficultly getting things just so. Enter the Drill Doctor XP. Though arguably not as pretty as its "online only" and higher priced siblings it nonetheless does 110% of what it claims, and does it well. It produces properly formed and sharped points in a remarkably short time (less than a minute) and the split point capacity creates a nice point once the "knack" is acquired--I like it. BTW, the XP does have the same 1.75A motor as the other models (not 1.0A as listed here) and uses the same diamond grinding wheels and drill chuck. Making it essentially the same tool--just a bit (no pun intended) less flashy...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my best workshop purchases ever..... This product delivers and THEN some, excellent, sturdy engineeriing made in USA. Any serious DIYers or Woodworkers need to have this in the shop, right by your drill press. No gimmicks here, it will literally make dull drill bits look brand new and split point within 30 secs tops. Where I loved it was when building a deck I had about 10 dull 1/8 bits .... stop project and take an hour and a half to run to buy new ones.. no way not me. Enter the Drill Doctor ...plugged in on site.....10 like new sharp1/8 Drill Bits within 10-15 minutes. Deck Project resumed, back to putting up spiindles........ LOVE IT!!!! BUY IT !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed! I'm a professional contractor, and I can't tell you how many drills my crew goes through. Sadly, when they get dull we normally throw them away, or at least throw them in a bucket in our shop. On a whim, I bought one of these the other day, since I was getting tired of buying $24 1/2" drill bits and thought I would try and sharpen a few. My first try was a huge success! Set-up was easy (comes with DVD instructions so doesn't get much easier than that). It took about two minutes to sharpen the first 1/2" bit, and I proceeded to drill 24 1/2" holes through 1/4" steel (with drill press) like I was going through wood! I decided to have a go at the toss-awaybucket, and within 1/2 hour I had sharpened over 50 drill bits! This is one of those tools that I wonder why I didn't get one a long time ago. It's paid for itself on the first day, and I may never have to buy another drill bit again. With that said, the only two things I might add are that 1) the model available in store (XP) doesn't appear to be as sturdy as the online version (500) which is the same price. If you don't need it right away, you might be better off ordering online. 2) sharpening bits smaller than 3/16" is pretty difficult, but I might just need more practice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reccomended The Drilldoctor is a great investment for anyone who uses drill bits, from the hobbyist to the professional tradesman. The unit comes with a DVD instructional video that not only explains drills in general but give clear, step by step directions on how to sharpen bits. If you're like me, you try to get the most out of everything. I also like to do the best job possible and using a sharp bit produces a nice, clean hole quickly. Once you have gotten the "feel" for the unit, you should be able to sharpen a bit in about a minute. I usually dull my masonry bits when drilling 3 or 4 holes to mount a item in brick or concrete and did not want to have to buy a new bit to hang every new item. The Drilldoctor sharpens my masonry bits in less than a minute. Setting up small drill bits (under 3/16" or so) can be a bit tricky, but the DVD does give directions on how to handle these, but be aware that sharpening the small bits may take slightly longer than the larger ones, maybe another minute or so, because ensuring the smaller bits are properly aligned takes a little more care. The Drilldoctor has turned out to be everything I have read about it and expected it to be. I am glad I bought one.
