I use liquid dish soap and a small brush. Do not use abrasives (comet, etc....). I rarely clean it (single dad). Mostly just rinse at end of day with 5-10 second light application of brush to loosen food particles then quick rinse. Black color hides what I might miss - not like my old stainless....

Hi Alangski, I reached out to the manufacture of this sink to get you an answer.
Cleaning, you can use dish soap and water. To get hard watet stains off, you can use 9 to 1 vinegar & water, or 9 to 1 bleach & water.
Manufacture also stated you can use a product called Bar Keeper, or Zep stainless steel cleaner. Always dry the sink after cleaning.

Another note: When assembling the drain itself, make sure you use a putty rated for granite to avoid staining. HD carries the two types. Of course the one rated for granite is twice the price..... Read Less

Answer:
Absolutely. You need to apply Plumbers Putty underneath the plate and then to the underside of the drain you install on top of the plate. Failing to do so will allow liquid to flow under the plate. Use the putty anywhere you think liquid could escape through sink openings, including the faucet and other devices installed on the top of the sink.

Hi, Kate. If it isn't specifically advised in the installation instructions, I'd hold off on doing so until you can give the technical support team a call at 877-527-0313 & they can verify with the manufacturer what product to use for the drain install.
They will just need the model number/internet number so they can pull the item up in their systems.
Thanks.

If by "sink insert" you mean drain hardware, then the answer is yes. I mounted a disposal so had to get the appropriate drain and collar from HD to use with the two plates mentioned above. FYI, these two metal plates (one square and one drain transition) are sort of a lightly brushed stainless and would go with either stainless or brushed stainless.
The strainer basket is a bowl with holes in it that sits on top of your drain, flush with the bottom of the sink. It stops food, etc. from clogging your pipes or items (spoons, etc.) from entering your disposal. They can be lifted out of the drain easily to clean or to use the disposal. This sink does not come with one. They come in standard sizes. Purchase to match your faucet. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not really metallic. The sink is really lovely to look at. My only objection is that it needs a slight slope so the water drains better. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Upgrade for the Kids Townhouse We wanted to upgrade the old metal sink in our kids townhouse, after installing all new appliances in stainless steel and black last year. This was a perfect fit for the existing location and relatively easy to install. We added a second location for the RO system faucet and installed a new Pfister high arc single hole faucet which really is the icing on the cake. The shipping went great, no problems with the double packaging. I'm a little concerned how well it will hold up over time. When we cut the second hole it was like we were melting plastic, not cutting through stone. So only time will tell how well this material holds up. But the photos prove it looks great. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This sink is a stunner. I am in love with this sink. It is big and deep, and very sharp looking. I can't tell you how many compliments I've received since we put it in! It's the first thing that people notice when they walk into our kitchen. I combined it with the "Glacier Bay Lyndhurst 2-Handle Bridge Kitchen Faucet with Side Sprayer" in Oil-Rubbed Bronze (Item # 202044307) and a Wilsonart HD laminate counter-top in Bella Capri. Now we just have to tile our back-splash! Embarrassingly, the only pictures I have at the moment show dishes in the sink, and you have to envision the back-splash all tiled- but you can get the idea! :) November 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great sink! Awesome. Looks great. Not too heavy for the contractor to lift on his own. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The BEST thing in kitchen!!!!! I bought this sink for our kitchen remodeling and new I would like it. But this sink has exceeded my level of satisfaction! It is very practical. The depth and width allows me to wash big pots, cookie sheets, blender, and dishes. It's beautiful and I love the simple design. We drilled 3 holes for the faucet, soap and garbage disposal switch. I HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking at this sink for your kitchen remolding. You will LOVE it. Guarantee! I don't understand why they don't have this on display in the store. February 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality Bought one 7 years ago and was great untill the bottom cracked! Replacement came and it was a very bad casting, extreme differences in color and texture through out the sink. Returned and bought a copper sink. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love this sink! Can't believe I'm getting all excited over a sink. But there you have it. :-) I purposely wanted this type of finish because (a) it looks nice, and (b) it is a heck of a lot more scratch resistant than the other sinks out there. Our kitchen used to have two basins - but we never used the second one. I decided for a single-basin sink and won't ever go back. I like being able to wash large pots and pans all inside the sink. I paired the sink with the Delta Pilar Touch 2O faucet. Both go very nice together. Currently this sink sits over the counter. When I get around to replacing the countertop in our kitchen, I'll move the sink to be under the counter. That's what's nice about this sink - it can go either over or under the counter. March 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Sink! We put this sink in our last house, then we sold the house and moved to a home with a double-bowl stainless sink. Boy did we miss this sink. We made the sink replacement a priority and now we have our granite sink again! The big, single bowl is so great, and the dark sink makes the kitchen look instantly more upscale. The only reason I didn't give it an overall 5 stars is that these composite sinks look best when they're shined up with oil (I use coconut oil). It's a little more maintenance than a porcelain or stainless sink, but when they're clean and oiled, there's nothing more gorgeous! November 25, 2015
