Product Overview

Dundas Jafine's Recessed Dryer Vent Box allows the dryer to be pushed up against the wall of the laundry room instead of having to be positioned 5-6 in. away in order to accommodate the dryer duct. The box also completely protects the duct from being crushed and lint build-up is minimized due to the limited kinks and bends. The Dundas Jafine Recessed Dryer Vent Box is made of high impact polystyrene (UL94HB rated) and has some additional features and benefits which make it unique over other dryer box products in the market. This product has a built-in draft blocker to help reduce cold air back draft into the home as well as an oval to round duct adapter which threads on easily to the duct and makes installation fast and easy.

  • Connects flex transition duct safely and space efficiently in the wall behind the dryer
  • Oval to round adapter included
  • Trim cover included
  • Reduces chance of duct getting crushed by dryer
  • Maximizes dryer efficiency by reducing lint build-up
  • Can be used with semi-rigid and flexible duct
  • Can be used on 4 in. or 6 in. studs
  • Built-in draft blocker
  • Flame retardant
  • Fits between wall studs

Answer:
The dryer duct that is connected to the back of your dryer, runs through the recessed dryer box and is then connected to your in-wall duct. The lint would be exhausted outside your home through this in-wall duct.

It can but not without considerable work which at the minimum is opening the wall, determining if it will fit suitably, installing, then repairing the wall. It depends greatly on how your dryer is currently vented. Also note that the photo of the box does not clearly indicate that the outlet leading outside the box is oval. It is designed to accept the standard 4" metal duct tube that is squeezed into an oval. You'll see from other reviews that no commercial adapter from round to oval is available. In my case, I opened up the wall and discovered that the vent box was impractical without relocating much of the duct work. The 4" duct, when squeezed into an oval, would not quite fit. In the end, I decided not to use the commercial vent box. Instead, I just used a 4", 90 deg ell from Home Dept which will swivel into a small offset and then framed it in. See attached photo of the nearly finished install. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dryer Vent Box Review This item was easy to install, but a bit flimsy. All in all, wort the price. April 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dryer vent great and easy product to install great product for a neat appearance January 13, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I was expecting for install. The vent box is fine enough but there were some major quality flaws that made life difficult for me. The tabs that are supposed to click on to the box so you can mount it to the wall were not sized accurately, so I ended up having to custom cut each of the tabs to get them to snap together, then the quick connect vent did not snap into place, so I had to tape it together. In hindsight I should have taken it back to see if I had a faulty product but I was urgently trying to finish the project and couldn't lose the time ordering a new one. Now that I have the box installed it is fine, but just beware that there were some technical problems getting it to that point. February 4, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! I agree with everyone else that said it is VERY hard to install, very flimsy and is not worth the headache to to try and install it! It doesn't come with very good instructions and the frame keeps coming loose from the wall, it looks terrible, fortunately you can't see the mess on the wall with the dryer in place!! I still need more room to open the door going out as this product just didn't help that issue!!! August 5, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by flimsy plastic I would NEVER recommend this vent box...fell apart after installation and sheetrock. I should've known because it felt cheap during installation!! Go with a metal box. December 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job This product was as good as I expected and does the job for the money. The difficulty was that it didn't come with four (4) brackets as it suppose and when I called Home Depot they offered to send another one and to return the one that I had received after two weeks of waiting. I improvised with those three and it worked! September 24, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Flimsy Product Ordered nine of these for some apartments I own. They came carelessly packaged. We took one look at them and found the product to be very flimsy. They are made out of plastic that is very thin in all the wrong places. While I like the idea of this product and might consider putting this in my own home if I really needed the space behind the dryer, no way I am going to put this into rental units. The tenants would break off the plastic part that you hook your dryer onto off quickly and we would have been stuck with a product that would require the wall to be opened up to be replaced. No thank you. Returned this at the store (which is a great option because its easy and you pay no return shipping)and got my money back except for the initial shipping cost. Too bad for the $57 in initial overnight shipping I lost on the deal, but I am glad I did not have these put in. **Also, for remodeling you need to realize that this product will take up quite some "in wall" space that you might not have because behind your laundry room wall you have hot & cold water, electricity and sewer pipes going on.** December 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install I just bought this dryer vent box. I purchased it in the store. The price was great! And, it was simple to install. The dimensions fit in between the standard framing of a wall. The assembled depth is 10.5 inches, but the assembled width is 16 in (standard width between each of the studs in the wall) I would definitely recommend this product to everyone! December 4, 2010
