Made in USA?

Where is this part manufactured? It turned up in a "made in USA" search, but I could find nothing on the description that said where it was made.
Asked by: KAStandlee
I am not sure why the person answered Made in China when the info I found on line says that following. The Kohler Company, founded in 1873, is an American manufacturing company based in Kohler, Wisconsin. Kohler's bath and kitchen fixtures are available in American hardware and home improvement stores. ohler still makes traditional cast iron bathtubs, one of the few United States manufacturers to do so. In 2007, Kohler created a joint venture in China called Kohler-YinXiang Ltd., based in Chongqing, China, to manufacture small GASOLINE ENGINES. So I believe this strainer in made in the USA but I might be wrong

Will the duostrainer mate up to abs, cpvc, or other plasic tubular tailpieces? If so will the connection use plastic nut

Current tailpiece has a inlet from the dishwasher drain, and the abs tailpieces have the nut connector on there as it will not fit around the the branch or barb for the dishwasher drain,
Asked by: RustyEverbiltDrain
The Duostrainer will take a standard tailpiece, metal ot plastic. You would still use the metal nut that comes with the Duostrainer. It has a flat rubber washer at that point as well.

what does drain look like without strainer?

Will you please post an image of the drain without the strainer? thanks deb
Asked by: deblee
It's a "+" of insanely thick (vertically) brass -- like everything else about this vs everything else available, you can't break this. The stopper is a two ton plutonium disk; the stem in the strainer basket will pull it up, turning it slightly keeps it up. For a metal stopper, it does not leak. These things should not be worth mentioning, but if you're shopping for stuff like this, you know these days this qualifies as "brilliant," in that it works and won't break.

The chrome is much cheaper than the other finishes. How is the durability of the finish?

Asked by: Tuesday
Day three with this and a new basin, zero finish issues, vs a slight rust formation already showing on the basin. What bothers me about this is it's so gleaming perfect, it highlights my putty not-completely-cleaning-up around it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best I have ever seen I am a very serious DIY person that has been installing sinks for nearly 50 years. This strainer is the best I have seen (built like a tank) and the easiest to install - you just tighten three screws under the sink with a Philips screw driver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install!!! The original strainer installed in my kitchen sink had to much plumbers putty and was misaligned. After trying to fix it I ended up breaking the huge nut that tightened the strainer to the sink. So, I bought this one which was twice as much as most of the other ones in the store because it looked easy to install. It in fact was one of the easiest home improvement projects I have ever done. The whole install took less than 10 minutes. Not only was it easy to install but the quality of the drain plug and how nice it looks in the sink is not even comparable to the original model. It is worth the extra money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not sure why this is cheaper I've had this chrome duostrainer for two weeks now; I got it at a local home depot for $8 more, but then I probably would have gone with a loss leader had I ordered online. In the store, there's this, then all the others, the weight itself is worth the cost. Terribly simple to install; I went with the cheap putty vs the non-staining putty -- go with the non-staining for this; I'm sure the residue will eventually go away completely, but it is amazing how it initially latches on. I've run about 40 gallons of water with about 4 gallons of bleach over the past two weeks, and have dropped mason jars that cracked on it -- so far, no threat of the finish chipping nor wasting. It's tough to find a drain basket with a metal bottom -- this has a 1/4"+ thick brass "+" you can't damage; the stopper is a thick, heavy disk with a thin o-ring around it -- it seals perfectly, and if it does degrade, I don't expect to have a problem finding a silicone replacement -- worse comes to worse, dental floss plus a very brief, light flame is an easy fix. I got this for Kohler's Prolific sink -- Kohler is pricy, imperfect, but they deliver what you expect; anything cheaper will be largely plastic and sheet metal. I'm honestly more concerned about damaging the sink than this all heavy-metal strainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worth the price Kohler typically costs more than the generic brands but you can see that this is heftier than the average product. Gives the impression that this is made of the real stuff, not some metal-coated plastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Drain(s) I have never ever installed my own kitchen sink drains, let alone a sink. I got so tired of my worn out sink with the gross drains (especially the one for the garbage disposal) that I decided to do my own DIY project all by myself!!! Plus I did look at reviews for this drain. The drains were really simple to install. I did watch a couple of DIY videos which helped with the process. Make sure that the drain is flat in the sink (don't forget the plumbers putty).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice heavy strainer Ordered late on a Sunday night and delivered on Tuesday morning. I replaced both strainers that, after 21 years, were rusted out on a Kohler porcelain kitchen sink . These strainers are much heavier and better quality than the strainers that they replaced. Easy install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality The Kohler Duostrainer is more expensive than some other sink strainers on the market, but the quality of workmanship is excellent, and the strainer looks great installed. We purchased this strainer for another sink in our home several years ago, and it still looks like new. Highly recommend. Also, the ordering process through The Home Depot was great from start to finish. Received the product in a timely manner without any drama.
