Product Overview

The DuraPlus system from DuraVent is designed to stay cool on the outside, provide a hot draft on the inside and boost stove efficiency, offering a fire-safe design that protects both the chimney and building. This Through-the-Wall Chimney Stove Vent Kit supports up to 40 ft. of DuraPlus chimney pipe (sold separately) and features the necessary items for a through-the-wall vertical chimney installation, including a chimney pipe with two insulating layers consisting of a ceramic blanket plus air space. The ceramic blanket insulation is held securely in position, eliminating hot spots common with loose-fill type insulations. In the event of a creosote fire, the compressible blanket insulation permits the chimney liner to expand outwardly in a radial direction. Designed for normal, continuous operation at 1000-degree F flue gas temperatures, DuraPlus is subjected to rigorous and stringent HT requirements of the UL standard, including one hour at 1400 degrees F, plus three 10-minute chimney fire tests at 2100 degrees F.

40lb weight limit?

The through the wall kit specs has a 40lb weight limit. That would limit you to 2 -3ft SS chimney pipes, less than the average requirement, one would think. My installation requires 5 pipes or 75+lbs. Is there another kit option or angle iron bracket sold separately?

Answer:
To overcome the 40 lb weight limit and the factory version not accommodating the 8 inch soffit I located a local sheet-metal shop. For $40 bucks I was able to beef up the tee support bracket and add extensions past my soffit. I have 5 - 3ft DuraPlus pipes or 75 lbs. safety supported.

Answer:
Stainless on the inside wall, but galvanized external walls. They also have stainless inside and outside walls, but that is generally more expensive.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 36 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Need better instructions This kit arrived well packaged with only minimal damage to the tee. (I could bend it back in shape with pliers.) The most important part of the package (the instructions) did not accompany the parts and pieces. I had to go to the Dura Vent website to locate and print the instructions. The instructions themselves are vague and not easy to follow. My inspector also had difficulty understanding the instructions. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great thru wall kit This is a well thought out kit with every piece needed to complete installation. The directions are clear and precise and the quality of the items in the kit are top notch. October 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful, but not perfect. The kit contained a number of necessary components for assembling the chimney. However, the short length of stove pipe will not be sufficient for many people trying to pass through today's highly insulated homes. Additionally, the fixed spacing wall mount brackets are not adjustable and therefore will be useless in many installations. Duravent sells much nicer adjustable brackets at substantial additional cost. Its upsetting to buy a kit that includes the 'budget' version of the components that won't work for many people. Furthermore, the finish of the T connector and the short length of triple-wall may or many not match the rest of the chimney, depending on the pipe you eventually purchase. Reaching M&G on the phone to ask questions is somewhat difficult and the rep on the phone was not very knowledgable about various install options. August 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Heartbeat of the Chimney I don't understand why the through the wall kit is exterior galvanized, while the pipe is all stainless. Just the way it is I guess. The through the wall thimble requires exact measurement and layout to get it correct. My installation was through masonry making it a little bit more difficult. Once the thimble is is, the rest is easy. I wonder about the long term weather tightness of the pipe going through the exterior wall plate. It is sealed with only caulk. A piece of circular flashing should be included with the kit. November 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by More difficult than expected Instructions not easy to follow. Had to stop and look up You Tube and forums several times to find some things out. I installed through block and brick, 12" distance from outside to inside wall. I ordered a 12" chimney pipe knowing the kit only came with a 9" section. Though this is not explained in the instructions, I found out I needed two 9" sections to have the thimbles fit. I found this out on a forum. December 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kit Worked As Advertised, make sure you get all the parts! The 6" through wall kit worked perfectly, and as advertised. **** My suggestion is that you open and ensure all parts are in the box when received from Home Depot. We picked up our kit from the Home Depot store, but failed to check. After driving 90 minutes to our property, and starting the installation, we realized a piece of the kit was missing. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Support Tee Poor Design Very disappointed. The directions call for 5/16 x 3inch lag screws (not provided) to hold up the tee, which holds up the chimney. As pointed out by another reviewer, the tee support bracket holes do not line up with 16 o.c. studs so you have to reframe to accommodate this poor implementation. The tee bracket absolutely should mate up with studs at 16 o.c. But nope. The wall thimble does have holes that line up perfectly with studs, but that doesn't hold the chimney up, the tee does. Stupid design. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Furthermore, the top of the tee support must be slipped under the exterior wall thimble rendering two of the bolt holes useless. The support straps barely clear the exterior wall thimble and if installed straight, will also miss 16 o.c. studs. The directions are poorly written and the diagrams could be better. This detracts from what should have been a simple installation if this was designed properly. November 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy... back in 1999! We bought this whole kit, back in October of 1999, when we installed our Englander woodstove... it was easy to install, and it's easy to maintain... after 16 years of really great service (from both the Duravent chimney and the Englander woodstove!), we are looking at replacing it, only because we are redoing the whole woodstove area, and are thinking it would be prudent to do, even though, IF we weren't redoing the rest of it, we would've left it alone. Besides, we need a new arrestor! This is definitely a great product, and a great buy. You can do it! October 10, 2015
