We both like a cool house during the day and in the evening we both like sitting in a warm room while watching the news. Does not take long to get our livingroom warm and comfortable for both of us. We no longer have to bring up the temperature in the whole house for when we sit. And the bedroom stays cool for a good nights sleep. In the morning, if it is really cold outside, just turn it on and the room we have coffee in is toasty. We purchased one, just to try and ended up getting another one for our camp and the neighbor ended up getting one after visiting us.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kathy This heater is great for any home
I had bought a similar heater and returned it within 24 hours because the fan was too loud and noisy.
This heater has a beautiful wood cabinet enclosure, is quiet and keeps the room at a comfortable warmth.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Charles Excellent product!!!
Have wanted one of these type heaters for years just never wanted to spend the money. I had always talked about the Eden Pure or the Amish heater we always see in the newspaper. After doing extensive research (Independent websites and customer reviews) I was lead to the Duraflame. I was hesitant at first but then I decided to trust my research (has never failed me in the past). I am very pleased that I did. We have it in a 500 square foot room that never gets real warm when it is below freezing outside. The temp on the heater doesn't hardly get above 67 degrees F, but it sure feels warmer. My wife loves it! That is what is really important!

Got this heater the day before Christmas and have run it almost everyday since then.It is very quiet running and puts out a good amount of heat in our living room/kitchen area.Does keep our main heat from running so much during cold days.Haven't gotten a power bill since i got it ,so can't say if it saves yet-it should the furnace doesn't run all day till it gets dark and really cold out. i do enjoy sitting in front of it on the weekends nice and toasty, without blankets on our legs/feet.it is a nice looking piece too,and like it says - does not get hot on the outside. It truly is a plug and go heater-comes ON and OFF automatically like it should-Really happy with it so far!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Orly Great supplemental heat
This is a great heater but does not heat a room to the desired temperature on its own. It must be used as a supplemental heater. I am using it to keep the downstairs at about 55 degrees, even though I set the heater at 74 degrees. It does not get to the set setting on its own if the house heater is turned off. If used to warm a room as you turn the major house heater down, then it is great. It does take several hours to warm the room/area to the desired temperature. It is made of quality material. Saw the same heater $50 less. Do highly recommend it. Hope one day Home Depot will sell Mirage heaters.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loubelle48 Just what the doctor ordered
I suffer from Raynaud's, and the doctor advised us to keep our thermostat in the low 70's in the winter. We have a large home, but spend most of our time in the kitchen/great room during the day. We set our thermostat at 68, then run this heater at 70 in the great room. The thermostat is in the hall off the great room, so the heater fools it into thinking it's 70 and it doesn't run. I'm comfy and warm in the great room, while the bedrooms stay cooler - just how we like it for sleeping. I'm sure we're saving money by running this instead of the heat pump, but in any case, my fingers and toes are very happy.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mountainman Nicely Built
I've had this unit for about a month and a half now and a little disappointed in performance. I put it in the family room and kitchen area at about 750 sq ft and it will only maintain the temp once the baseboard heat brings the room up to the 68 degrees which is what I set the thermostat to and when the outside temp is below 30 degrees. ( As a side note I have a newly built house that was built be my self very well insulated.) The room never gets any warmer than 68 I find when the outside temp is 40 or above it seems to do a better job at warming up the house and I can shut off oil heat.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dissatisfied My small personal quartz heater warmed the room just as well and it is just an 8" box.
I bought thiis to assist my fuel oil furnace and hopefully reduce the yearly fuel oil bill. First off I'm a 65 yr old weakling and delivery to the house must mean dropping it off in my driveway without my knowledge. I guess it was asking too much to take it up the 4 steps to my porch and letting me know it arrived. Claiming to warm 1000 sq ft is a joke unless you consider 64 degrees warm. It couldnt even warm the 24 x 24 room it was in. I would advise people to save their money or choose a different brand. I'm thoroughly disgusted with it and went back to using the small box heater.
