I need to paint my shower pan. Can this be used in the shower and will the finish be slippery.
Asked by: Bugsy
Yes and Yes but I used it and it's working fine. If you want sprinkle a little sand in the paint before it dries.

Can acetone or something else be used as a thinner/cleaner instead of mineral spirits?

You can't get any worthwhile mineral spirits in California anymore, at least not easily. "Paint Thinner" has god knows what as diluents, so my options are Acetone, denatured alcohol, etc.
Asked by: bhb
I was able to use a mineral spirits substitute and wash off the remaining film with soap and water.

can it be tinted

Asked by: hendog
Well, won't be tinted by Home Depot. No reason you couldn't use other compatible Duralux paint to tint. I'm planning a camo paint job on my Motorhome, and will be mixing black, brown, green and white in different proportions to create about 10 shades that will give the camp more depth.

Can this be used on dock ladder steps?

Can abrasive, such as sand, be added for non-slip surface on treated 2x4 dock ladder steps?
Asked by: Rich
I'd stick to a special purpose non-slip additive. This paint tends to be very glossy on 2x4s. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Seal-Krete-3-2-oz-Clear-Grip-Anti-Skid-Additive-402002/203002764

The application seemed consistent at the time of painting. I used a plush roller for large areas but the brushed corner areas came out much better. If you want the best finish you'll need to test areas to determine the best way to apply it for your situation. For example: I primed and then painted some 2x3 and 2x4 framing members and the roller applied way too much paint on the 2nd coat. The finish after a few days was extremely glossy and took on the appearance of a candy finish. When I primed and painted the plywood it was a different story. I applied 2 coats in the same way as before and found some areas didn't cover well came out somewhat spotty. In the areas that did cover well the finish is more of a semi gloss. When comparing this product with http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-1-qt-Gloss-White-Protective-Enamel-Paint-7792504/100117230 I found better coverage using a plush roller with the Rustoleum. Time will tell which holds up better to the weather. It seems the Rustoleum may be able to achieve equal or better looking results on plywood if you apply it as directed and then spray a couple of coats of Rustoleum Clear Gloss. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Painter-s-Touch-2X-12-oz-Gloss-Clear-General-Purpose-Spray-Paint-249117/100670438

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Early review It's too early to tell whether the product lives up to it's description, but at least the application was everything to be expected. The paint self-levels well, if not too well, as it tends to follow gravity a little too readily. The finish is gorgeous. Drying time to touch is 24 hours, full cure is listed as 7 days, but I think longer is better. Choice of roller cover is critical: cheap rollers for wall paint release fibers that end up stuck on the surface: impossible to remove. Makes an otherwise beautiful surface blemished. Now it's time to put the boat in the water and see how the finish holds up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well on painted aluminum boat hull Worked well on previously painted aluminum boat hull (above water line application). Adheres well but on vertical surfaces you should not spread too thickly or it might sag a bit - easy to prevent this. In normal temp/humidity, dries solidly in about a day or less. Interested to see how it holds up over time and with use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy I built a 28' offshore fishing boat. Durlalux had the best color selection out of all of the paints available to me. Coverage was great, but the price was even better, coming in at nearly half the cost of the competition!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent outdoor product I used this product to paint our outdoor wooden rocking chairs. The coverage was excellent. The finish dried smooth even though I used a brush. The gloss is brilliant. Our rockers look better than when they were new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product I have repainted the top railing on my front porch over and over. I have used good paint, but it still comes off and has to be done every year. I think this time it will be good for at least 3!!
