Product Overview

No other dustless drywall sander can do all this! Unlike other large, round head sanders, the Dustless Turbo Drywall Sander has a smaller rectangular head that gets you into corners and tight spots. The Turbo Drywall Sander is powered by the vacuum air pulled through an air turbine inside the orbital sanding head. This simple, brilliant design eliminates the need for an electric motor mounted on the pole and greatly reduces the system's weight. It is much lighter than the most popular competitive drywall sander by almost half (5 lbs. vs. 8 lbs.). That extra three pounds makes a huge difference when you're reaching above your head to sand tall walls and ceilings. The pole extends to a length of six feet so you can reach high walls and ceilings without getting onto a ladder or using scaffolding. And the Turbo Drywall Sander uses standard sized hook-and-loop sandpaper that costs roughly one fourth the price of the proprietary paper you're forced to use with other drywall sanders.

  • Captures dust at the point-of-origin so there's less mess to clean up later
  • Orbital sanding head is powered by vacuum air
  • Rectangular shaped sanding head lets you get all the way into corners
  • Pole extends 6 ft. so there's less need for working on a ladder or scaffold
  • Designed to capture the extra fine dust created by drywall sanding
  • Much lighter than the leading competitive drywall sanders
  • What's in the box: 1 hand sander, 1 6 ft. pole, 1 oil, 3 sheets of paper, 1 extra hose adapter
  • Works with the following Dustless Technologies accessories: #54101 120 grit- 5 pack sandpaper, #54102 120 grit- 25 pack sandpaper, #54201 180 grit- 5 pack sandpaper, #54202 180 grit- 25 pack sandpaper, #54301 220 grit - 5 pack sandpaper, #54302 220-grit

Customer Questions & Answers

cant find a hose that will attach

I bought this but now I cant find a hose to attach and use
Asked by: joe
Any standard shop vac hose can attach. Also, one can purchase very inexpensively hose adapters to connect various devices to the hose you are using. Home Depot has several shop vac hose adapters in stock.

can this be used to sand a hard epoxy surface

I am sanding the hard epoxy bottom paint off my boat and the yard requires that I use a dustless sander. What is the minimum power rating / suction power of the shop vac required for optimal performance.
Asked by: Jim
Probable yes. However on a large irregular surface an electric sander will work faster. Also, you can attach an electric sander to your shop vac. Prior to having this unit that is how I did all of my sanding. Be careful that epoxy dust (I do not know the answer) does not create static electricity! This can be dangerous if not anticipated and properly provided for.

There is a slight learning curve as, one must apply very little pressure to the device in use. I use this tool with a Dustless Technologies wet dry vacuum. I do not believe this tool will work well with an commonly available low cost, low performance shop vac. This tool is not as aggressive as an electric sander but, will give excellent results if used properly and matched with a proper shop vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with My Results I was a bit concerned about getting this after reading the reviews but I have used other products by Dustless and been very happy with them. I think the key is I have their vacuum and the products work very well together. If your using a cheap shop vac or something like that this probably won’t work to well for you. You need a vacuum with very good suction to get the sander up to the correct speed. I have used this on 2 jobs so far and it worked great and saved me valuable clean up time. The package came a bit damaged but the sander was fine, but this was probably a shipping issue. Also the video on the product is informative on its use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk This product is very slow way of sanding dry wall. It took about 10 hours to sand a 10 x 10 room .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNK It is not worth the $8.00 it cost to ship it. I do small and large sheet rock repairs, this tool is absolutely worthless for any size job. I guess if you could take 2 days to sand the drywall, it would eventually get the job done. Hand sanding may be dusty, but it is much faster.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The product is definitely dustless The sanding is not aggressive enough, even when trying a rougher sandpaper. I had to cut pieces of other hook and loop sandpaper for the product, not very convenient. I only used the product about 2 hours before deciding to return the item to my local Home Depot. Product does not sand well enough to produce a smooth finish, whether using the recommended "light touch" or trying to use a little more pressure. Product is definitely dustless, but certainly not "turbo."

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Clean, slow The dustless part is good, but you have to hook it to your vacuum with duct tape unless you have the kind it is made to connect to. But it is Slo-o-o-o-w. It should be made to use drywall sanding mesh instead of sandpaper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from slow, not worth the money Easily clogged, slow, gouges the wall if you do not have a strait angle to the wall. Lots of touch up when used on smooth wall finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a fan of this attachment Used this sander with the dustless technologies vacuum. Vacuum is amazing, the sander leaves much to be desired. The Velcro portion of the sander that the paper attaches too started to peel at the corner so eventually I wouldn't be able to use the Velcro sanding sheets. Second, as others stated, you cannot get into the corners at all and the sander is just not very aggressive. Lastly, when sanding by hand (without the included pole), the sander wants to tip sideways at times. More importantly, the hose continuously falls out of the head forcing me to use two hands, one to sand and the other to hold the hose from falling out of the head. I contacted the manufacturer who said they could fix my issues and asked if they could call me "tomorrow". I said ok but they never called. I returned the product and bought a simpler dustless hand sander.
