Can this be used in a tent?

Asked by: Lh3217
Hello, These units are not designed to be used in any type of living quarters. There are laws prohibiting the use of propane tanks in living quarters, so these units do not have an oxygen depletion sensor, posing a safety risk if not monitored closely and well ventilated. I am thinking about using this to heat our semi enclosed patio, can i leave the heater attached to the tank?

Our patio is enclosed on three sides by a wall and tall fences. Since we put a sail-shade above it I've been looking for an alternative to our too tall traditional patio heater. Can I leave the heater attached to the tank and store it outside, like I did with the old heater, or will it not stand up over time?
Asked by: OutdoorLife
The heater head can be left on the the tank for storage. Ensure the tank is tightly shut-off and the heater head control knob is shut off. Leaving it outside in weather conditions may affect control assembly, heat screen and appearance of tank. I store mine in garage out of weather conditions to protect the controls and heat screen. If storing outside I would remove the heater from the tank and store it in a dry place.

It is easy to ignite and once lit is very quiet. It definitely takes the chill off the space quickly. I like the efficiency as it burns at a rate of 6hrs./gal. of propane.

Had this running for a few hours and then it started smelling really not and making a whistling kind of noise. It also didn't keep up with a 2 car garage at 40 degrees outside. Going to take it back.

Wind easily blows it out, must re-light often. Auto shut-off very sensitive. Any slight tilting, like to move it, will activate shut-off. Keeping it level while moving eliminates the auto shut-off. Not the best but as good as any available today, having used several brands, I would recommend this one only because it has guard on back and swivel head. Needs auto ignite system to eliminate hand lighting.

Have had quite a bit of trouble over time trying to get the thing to stay lit. But, believe i discovered it was the thermocouple (probe which comes into top element area & is heated up by the burning propane). Once I sanded & generally cleaned up the thermocouple probe and housing for it, the thing has worked so much better. For what it's worth.

It's amazing how much heat it actually puts out. My husband DID have a problem with it. He almost needed 3 hands to attach it to the tank. You have to hold the heater, push it on to the tank and turn the knob to tighten it. Other than that, it's a great product. We're thinking about the double heater.

We use it beside our Electric Heater System to help warming home during winter. It's not recommend to use it continuous in home because it's designed for "Openfields Use" but if you use it before sleep hours and "turn it off before sleeping" then it's ok to use it for 2 to 3 hours at night. but "never use it in a single closed room".

Easier than I thought it would be. I like that the gas isn't actually flowing until you press a button when the match/lighter is in position. Way less scary. Will be interested to see how many hours of heat I get from a tankful of propane. Will be used in a small shed.
