Answer:
I use a 20 lb tank for this heater. I can run it on HIGH for 3 hours before the tank starts to freeze. after it thaws, it has about another 2 hours of use on HIGH, 4-5 hours on LOW

Answer:
It will run on a 20lb tank but for short periods of time. Smaller tanks mean less expanding gas in tank and can lead to regulator freeze up which blocks the flow of gas to heater till it allowed to thaw.

Answer:
It would be sufficient to use a 20lb tank for the low and medium setting only. Another thing to keep in mind is that colder temperatures do call for a larger tank size as indicated in the manual.

Sure, you can either extend the existing hose or replace it altogether with a longer one (common fittings). The hose that it comes with has a regulator on it and that needs to be inline between your bulk tank and the heater unit. Does this and all your heaters require them to be plugged in? Considering it for camping. There will be no outlets there.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LP has portable heater Works good 20 lb cylinder lasts about 6 hours mid atmid range heat. Just wish a thermostat would work on this. February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stops working after an hour of use Hard to get started and after you use if for an hour very little heat comes out. I have a new tank with full 20 pounds. This is junk don't buy January 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by heater This is a very good heater one of the best product I have ever bought January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works good I'm heating a 36\42 pole barn ! It heats it up in about 15 min ! Works great ! December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good, mid sized heater Purchased online and shipped fast. Worked in a insulated pole barn last winter and had this heater hooked to a 100lb tank and heated a 50 x 56 x 16 foot shop in less than 30 mins, from 0 degrees to 60 to get the chill out. You must have a source of fresh air intake for any fuel driven heater. Was thinking of purchasing a second for use in the garage but feel a smaller heater would do fine as this is made for large spaces. December 18, 2014
