Answer:
Hello curt!
Kerosene is a fuel that rapidly absorbs moisture when stored.
My personal unit exhibited this type "flame-out" upon ignition and I resolved the problem by simply discarding the old fuel and filling with fresh kerosene.
Give it a try!

IE: in a family room, not in a barn or workshop... I'll use a CO alarm in conjunction with it... No wood stove. Thanks!

Answer:
I would not run this heater indoors. It should be ok in an enclosed area as long as it is well ventilated. Example, a garage would be ok as long as the door is open.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good unit This is a good solid heater. I run strictly diesel in it, and other than taking a few runs to fire up, it starts every time. I am happy with my purchase. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lots of heat, when it actually ignites Heater arrived well packaged, and relatively good instructions for assembly. unless the unit is kept with at least 1/4 tank, it tends to fail to fire off, Fan engages, but igniter sometimes fails to fire, causing a blowing cloud of diesel vapors, and after several (4-5) cycles of the ignition switch unit will fire off. expelling flames from the nose cone about a foot for approx. 2 minutes. We are using it in a 5 bay Boom Truck repair shop, it does well enough to take the edge off, but it would take all day to actually heat the shop, as we have 23 foot ceilings, shop is about 60x70. so i probably need at least one more of these heaters, they are pretty loud but that's to be expected for a forced air heater. the time scale on the fuel tank is on the low position, high is about 2/3's to 3/5's of that scale.... it says 8 hours on a full tank, on High it will run about 6 hours.... when the thermostat is triggered it also releases a cloud of unburned fuel, though not as large as a fail to ignite.... Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I have received 2 heaters & neither one works right This is the second heater & it still won't fire off every time . Heats good once I get it to work . I'm still dealing with the manufactor on getting this one fixed . January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice heat , Use 2 in a commercial body shop We use them to support a semi downdraft paint booth when the temp dropped below zero. I've used one for 10 years and just bought bigger Dyna glow .The old one starts every year , we use nothing but diesel fuel and fuel additive and store them inside when not in use.I hope this new heater is durable and dependable as the 10 year old Dyna-glo. The old heater has had at the least 700 gallons of diesel ran through it. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not very good at all. I purchased this heater just over a year ago for Home Depot, so it is out of warranty. It worked great last winter but I tried to use it last week and guess what, It just sat there and shot out smoke while firing up and cutting off with the fan still running. Is it too much to ask for it to work more than one winter? Oh I only fired it up 6 times last winter so not much use on this heater at all. I will not buy another DYNA_GLO anything! January 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great heater for the price Nice blower unit, just added diesel fuel and it fired right up. We have been using around 30 hours a week for the last month and it is running like new. I recommend usning winter blend diesel fuel instead of fuel oil; all of the oil firied units run cleaner with the kerosene mix. February 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Effective, economical and dependable! I have bought several of these heaters from Home Depot. They are extremely durable and real work horses. I run them sometimes all day and in very harsh environments. February 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT HEATER WORKED WELL RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. EASY ASSEMBLY 15 MINUTES FILLED WITH k1 FUEL AND WORKING FINE December 10, 2014
