Product Overview

The DC39 Origin canister vacuum is engineered with Dyson cyclones that capture more dirt than any other. Featuring Dyson's Radial Root Cyclone technology, reconfigured air channels reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles and expel cleaner air. Suitable for all floor types, the DC39's Triggerhead tool is the only turbine head controlled at the handle, so there is no bending down to adjust. A fingertip control switches the brush bar off for delicate rugs and hard floors and switches on for high pick-up on carpets. Combined with Dyson Ball technology, the DC39 turns on a dime to give you greater control and easily moves around obstacles. The clear bin allows you to see when it's full and empties at the push of a button, minimizing contact with dirt and allergens. DC39 Origin has a non-removable HEPA filter and carries a 5 year warranty, parts and labor guaranteed by Dyson. And as with all Dyson vacuum cleaners, DC39 Origin has no loss of suction.

  • No bag, no loss of suction, no awkward moves

Do not expect an all in one solution you will be happy with. I suggest a Stick Vac for hard floor and area rugs and an upright for the carpet. Answer:
Hi Barb. It's Vince with Dyson. The Dyson Ball Multi-Floor is designed to automatically engage the brush bar when you recline the vacuum. Once done, pushing the "brush bar" button will disengage the rotating action for your more delicate flooring. We will be happy to provide more info on the functionality of the Ball Multi-Floor via email at askdysonus@dyson.com.
Best wishes,
Vince P.

I currently have an Oreck- moved to a new house that has thick longer nap carpet - My oreck was slipping the belt - took it for repair and was told it would not work on long nap thick carpeting. Looking for a new vacuum that will.

Answer:
Hi Marge,
It's Vince with Dyson. The Dyson Ball Multi-floor is designed to handle multiple carpet and floor types. The motorized brush bar in tandem with the auto adjusting sole plate should work well with the carpet you described. We will be happy to answer any additional questions or concerns via email at askdysonus@dyson.com.
Best wishes,
Vince.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 316 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by disappointed this is my 2nd dyson my first was the upright kind and now that i have more stairs i was excited to get the canister style. while it does have great suction i find it gets clogged a lot. i feel like i have to clean out some part of it every time. it has 2 points that are problematic. the first is in the spinning head it has a small narrow opening that if u accidently suck up a penny it stops all airflow. the second is right under where the canister sits. this is a spot where it narrows and curves. i had to use a drain snake to clean it out cause it was clogged at that point with a piece of something that was like a toothpick but since it was straight it didnt go through and then caught hair and other particles until it just wouldnt pick up any more. you really have to watch what gets vaccuumed up. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sucks Boy, does this vacuum suck!! That's a great thing, right?? Very powerful. Love the retractable cord. Easy disposal of vacuumed material. August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes your life easier I am a mother of two, wife, and a we have two dogs. Let me tell you have this vacuum made vacuuming our home. Its light weight. Easy to maneuver. Effective. No loss of suction. Best part is the exhaust air the vacuum blows off does not affect where you are vacuuming, so it does not blow around stuff on your dirty floor{like where you just cleaned}. Also, this vacuum stores quickly. Love dyson. My family wont have anything else. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner I've had this vacuum for about a month and really like it. It's so powerful and very easy on stairs. It's pricey but worth it. December 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works perfectly - missing on/off button on handle This vacuum cleaner works really good, the suction power is good and is good for carpets and tiles/wood floors. The only thing I miss is the on/off button on the handle, it is not so comfortable to press the button on the machine. July 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT CANISTER VACUUM, GETS INTO ALL THOSE SMALL SPACES. I ALSO USE IT TO DUST A LOT, THE FULL CLEANING KIT WAS A BIG HELP. EASY TO USE AND LIGHTWEIGHT. DOES EVERYTHING I WAS LOOKING FOR A VACUUM TO DO EXCEPT WASH THE CARPETS. July 13, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy I have not been happy with my Dyson vacuum! First of all, the directions for putting it together with only pictures has confounded me since the beginning. I find it very difficult to open the waste container and put it back together. Now the button for opening that container is stuck and I can not push it. I have found it difficult to maneuver and I just recently put in new low-pile carpeting and it doesn't work on that at all. It looks like I will have to get rid of it and get a different machine. December 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I do love Dyson Vacs!!! I just received my 3rd Dyson. I rescue dogs so there is a lot of pet hair. If I used a conventional vacuum that required bags the cost of the bags per year would pay for a brand new vacuum every year. One caveat, I do take my vacs to vac shop once a year and have them cleaned and the filters replaced. I have two older Dysons, one is 2 years old and the oldest is 5 years old; both still work like new. May 13, 2016
