This vac is a great canister vac. I already own a Dyson upright, and it has been in for service in its 4th year, this vac may cost more than others, but the company really stands behind its product. With my past experience, I did not hesitate to check out Dyson when I needed a canister model. Knowing that there is a 5 year warranty and the company will stand behind was important to me when making a major purchase decision. The preformance of this vac is also excellent! This vac easily cleans under furniture where uprights will not go without switching to attachments. I have two dogs and three cats and it picks up the pet hair. I have tile, hardwood and carpet floors, the vac does great on all. The cord winds up in the unit for storage with the push of a button. I also like the fact that the height of the handle has several positions. I am 5' and my husband is 6'2'', we can both comfortably set the legnth of the tube to fit our needs. Great product which I would highly recommend. Especially after factoring in the 5 year warranty from Dyson as well as the well thought out product design and preformance, this is definitely a great choice!

Looking for an A+ vacuum???
I would totally recommend this product to anyone looking for a new vacuum. Despite the cost, it is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned!
The attachments are easy to switch on and off and the handle on the hose helps maneuver the vacuum around.
It takes me half the amount of time to vacuum my home which makes it more tolerable! I don't feel like I'm going over the same section many times.
The floor attachment is the best attachment ever as I have hard wood floors throughout my home. It maneuvers into smaller areas easier than my Bissell upright with attachments.
The rug attachment picks up much more kitty hair than I was expecting. When I am done vacuuming, my home actually looks clean. Having kitties, it is sometimes a bear to keep up with shedding.
Emptying the canister is not too bad either. My Bissell upright had a bagless canister, but I like the Dyson more. None of them will be dust free, but if you take the care and thought into emptying the canister, it is not so bad.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GrdmaG the all plastic body and hose and tube attract the dog hair and it sticks all over it. have to stop and vacuum the vacuum.
Good suction, have 6 labs. fills up the bin everytime I use it. Carpet feels cleaner. The biggest problem is the static of the all plastic body, tube and hose.

I felt a little better knowing I paid extra for an award winning piece of art after reading the creative little booklet included with the vacuum about the Dyson Story--and the fact I will be able to pay for this pricey vacuum over a whole year with no interest penalty by taking advantage of the Home Depot 12 months no interest payment plan. The vacuum is working fine but it is noisier than I expected and the hose is too short. As a result the "animal" aspect of this vacuum is constantly nipping at my heels when I use it. I called the Dyson 800 number and discovered a longer hose is not available. At least it's not awkwardly falling over the way an upright normally does. Oddly, there appears to be a stowage provision for a longer hose. I can only assume this model chassis is shared with a different model which does have a longer hose. The entire model is constructed from plastic and some components seem flimsy and frail--namely the hose handle. I visited their flashy web site and watched all the "test" videos including the drop test before ordering this unit. We'll see how it holds up during the 5 year warranty period. On the plus side it really sucks and the cord reel works exceptionally well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ikejo the best vaccuum I have ever had and I am 74.
I purchased the Dyson sweeper and the Dyson animal Canister Vacuum and they are both the best I have ever had. I have two cats, and I now have no problems with cat hair. I will never use another kind of vaccuum as these are wonderful. I use the sweeper each morning around the cat box area and the kitchen table etc, and I use the cannister for the whole house and it does a wonderful job. They are both expensive items to buy but they are well worth the money. It is a wonderful feelling to know that no matter what my vaccuum will do its job. Thank you, Jo Ann

I recently purchased a Dyson Digital Cordless sweeper. I have never owned a Dyson before. I was so surprised by it's suction and cleaning that I decided to purchase a DC23 Animal canister. I have two cats and special cleaning issues due to litter and litter dust. Finding myself recently partially handicapped, I bought the Digital Cordless for the downstairs and the DC23 Animal for the upstairs.
I have an expensive upright sweeper that I thought was perfect. However, its suction doesn't come close to the Dyson. Both my sweepers picked up major dirt from my "clean" carpets, the first time I used them.
Both are well worth the money spent.

I LOVE this machine. I have a dog, a Jack Russell, sheds like you won't believe, and 2 cats and alergies. I wanted a canister because it's so much easier to pull around. The telascoping wand is a great addition .The brush for the carpets is exceptional. I love all the attachments. This machine is does the work in Half the time and with Half the effort. I was shocked at the dirt the other "NEW" machine left behind. It is so easy to empty and to not have to buy filters is Great. It does a really excelant job of getting the dog hairs and all that really fine dust out of the furnature as well as the carpets. I would highly recomend it to any one with animals or children.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Declan Very impressed with this vacuum!
In February 2011, My mom was getting a new vacuum. after spending some time at Sears, she finally decieded to get this. After we assembled the vacuum, I cleaned the stairs, And by the time I reached the top, the bin was full! This vacuum is incredibly strong, and it picks up more than other vacuums. There is a problem though. Whenever I empty the bin, the bottom of the bin, the lid part, is not perfectly smooth, so some dirt will collect there, and I have to shake it to get all the dirt out. The tools that came with it, were very good too. The mini turbine head is great for carpeted stairs! I highly reccomend this vacuum!
