Customer Questions & Answers

what attachments are included?

Asked by: Anonymous
Vacuuim carpet head, floor head, stair/furniture head, brush, long crevice/corner tool. The stair/furniture head is a miniature version of the carpet head with a roller - not the cheap plastic flat piece that comes with other vacs.

Are the floor tools on either/both the DC39 and DC23 low enough to go under most furniture?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi, this is Ryan from Dyson Customer Service. The tools included with both the DC23 and DC39 machines will allow you to clean under most furniture. If you find that the included tools do not suit your specific needs we also offer a tool called the Flat Out Head that you can purchase separately. This tool has a very low profile and will allow you to get under furniture and other areas of your home that have a low clearance. Best wishes, Ryan Dyson Customer Service

There are two dyson animal canisters, please compare the two and tell me the advantages of one over the other.

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi this is Jessica from Dyson. Both the DC39 Animal and DC23 Animal are equipped with turbine driven brush bars, additional tools to aid in the removal of pet hair and HEPA filters. However, the DC39 Animal is Dyson's newest canister machine and the first canister to feature Dyson Ball technology, allowing it greater steering control. The DC39 also has a unique Triggerhead tool making it the only turbine head controlled at the handle, no bending down necessary. If you have additional questions please let us know and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Best wishes, Jessica

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it I'm working a housekeeper, and I've been tried so many kinds and brands of vacuums, this is better one, you can reach everywhere under and between.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DC23 Animal We have a black lab, yellow lab mix and a cat, so fur cleanup is a constant. We spent well over an hour trying to clean the upholstery on our sectional sofa prior to the holidays, yet the best efforts of hose attachments on our old "well-known namebrand" upright vacuum, sticky rollers, brushes and a lot of sweat could not remove all of the fur. After the holidays, we were able to not only remove a fresh layer of fur, but it went beyond, removing the vast majority of "leftover" and hard to reach fur, lint and dust that we could only dream of cleaning before- and all in less than 10 minutes work! Our black lab even let us brush her coat with the beater brush- which works out quite nicely! A quick change of attachments made quick cleanup of the cat litter box area. Emptying the clear bin was very clean and easy- the contents of which proved how well it cleans! We also like that the DC23 has washable/reusable filters. While the Dyson costs a little more initially, the "copy-cat" competition uses replaceable HEPA filters which is an additional long-term cost that would eventually negate the initial price difference. The DC23 is BY FAR the best all-around pet clean-up device we have ever encountered and cannot praise it enough!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good - but one big flaw I bought this vacuum after moving into a new house. The house has hard wood floors as well as carpet, vinyl and tile. I have a cat and two small children, one who just learned to crawl, so I needed a solution that would clean all of the floors thoroughly, but easily. I had heard about Dyson's reputation as a vacuum that never loses suction and it became apparent that my 5+ year old upright had. This was my first time using a canister vacuum, but I was enticed by the possibility of vacuuming under the furniture, so I gave it a try. It took a little getting used to since you drag the vacuum behind instead of pushing it in front, but once I got the hang of it I had a little fun. Vacuuming the stairs was a breeze and the amount of dirt the Dyson sucked out of the carpets that my other vacuum left behind was a little scary. My favorite part was using the new articulating hard wood floor tool - it reached EVERYWHERE - behind the toilet, right up next to the floor boards, in between the kitchen chairs, etc.! My only complaint, and it's a big one, is storage of the vacuum. The animal comes with three attachment heads, but there is no where to stow them. Even more annoying is the hose is not long enough to wrap twice around the body of the canister and it doesn't click into place. Also, there is no where to put the wand unless you want to mount it to the front where it sticks 3 feet straight up in the air - not practical at all! I am actually surprised by the obvious oversight in design, especially since Dyson is all about engineering innovation. The vacuum is great, the tools are awesome, the features are phenomenal. Storage of the vacuum is quite silly and cumbersome. Hopefully Dyson addresses this problem in future models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine I bought my wife the DC23 Animal because we have two Border Collies and she is always upset because the younger dog jumps on the chairs and goes to sleep leaving behind his fur that is hard to get out. It was no problem with the special attachment that came with this machine. We have wood floors and braided carpets. The carpets looked clean, but I was amazed at how much fur the machine sucked up from them. The Dyson technology works as advertised. We had a great little Miele canister that did a good job, but the Dyson is better and best of all there are no expensive bags to buy. Emptying the canister is a snap and there is no mess. I am really happy with the machine and the real tribute to it is that although my wife was mad that I spent so much money for another vac I noticed she doesn't use the old machine anymore. Even my son is using it to clean up his room!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Luv the Animal This is my second Dyson, I bought an animal upright 7 years ago and its still going strong. Bought the Animal canister and its so easy to use and cary around, Its awesome on the stairs and the turbo head really gets the cat & dog hair up this is by far the best and I still think my old upright still does a good job. Its really worth the money you get what you pay for and the customer care with dyson is outstanding with a 5 year guarantee they stand by their product. I think everyone needs a Dyson!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor InstructionsI I recently purhcased a Dyson Animal Vac. Clnrr. Having never owned a Dyson, I started to read the instruction manual. The instructions were practically helpless. Quite a disappointment. I actually had to call the toll-free help line in order to assemble my vac, use it, and determine what each attachment was used for. (Many of the attachments are not even mentioned anywhere in the booklet.) I was quite surprised how ineffective the booklet is. My daughter purchased a Dyson at Christmas and she was the reason I decided to purchase one also. She had the exact comments I had. As far as the vac. itself, I am quite pleased with it. However, I wish it had different vacuuming levels to choose from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful suction With the five cats and their litter pans there is always dirt and dust; I was using an old cumbersome upright with little hose and not easy to maneuver. I purchased the Dyson Animal vacuum and WOW-- you would have thought I had not cleaned house in weeks. The Dyson vacuumed up lots of old cat hair and dust. I use it every couple days and still get lots of hair and dust and dirt. Great machine for that. This is my first bagless machine, it is easy to empty and lightweight to use, and no additional cost for bags. The instruction booklet could use a bit more detail, instructions in writing as well as pictures and list the attachments that are included and their uses. I didn't know what the stair tool was at first, thankfully more detail is on the website. Carrying tools on board: I have found that the tools I use the most, barefloor tool, pet "head" and crevice tool can all be stored on the machine- remove the stair tool and bristle brush and others will fit in those places. I don't have many rugs, so I leave the turbine head in the room where the rug is. You could carry one other accessory by hanging the barefloor head from the handle off the back of the cannister, if you use the turbine floor head and the barefloor head a lot, either one will hang on the back of the handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best friends' best friend! I have two large dogs - husky mixes, no less - that seem to shed endlessly and this vacuum is great for picking up all of the hair from my downstairs hardwoods. It has also rid my area rugs of the perpetual orange stain from the mud/clay/dirt my angels bring in with them. It is easy to maneuver, works wonderfully on stairs, and the suction power simply can't be beat. My only complaint is the size of the dustbin - I have to empty it more frequently than I would like - but I'll gladly take that con in exchange for all the pros. In fact, I am considering replacing my upright vacuum for upstairs carpets as well.
