Having owned many vacuum cleaners over the years, this one stands out as the best. Vacuum is strong no bags to buy and easy empty. I highly recommend this Vacuum cleaner.

Used this vacuum for the first time and I love it! Assembling the vacuum was easy with the step-by-step instructions. I love how I can go from vacuuming our hardwood floors to carpeted areas without having to re-adjust the brushes. My husband noted that this vacuum has the best suction of any of the brands we had purchased to date.
The best feature, for me, is how easy the vacuum is to maneuver around furniture. My other uprights always seemed so heavy and hard to manipulate; resulting in an aching back when I finished this dreaded chore! I would have given this product 5-stars but it does take a bit of fussing to use the wand attachment.

This vacuum by far is the best vacuum I have ever owned . This machine is worth every penny. We have a large dog that does shed quite often and the Dyson never disappoints me . thank you I only buy Dyson products and I encourage and recommend them to friends.:-)

Okay, it been a year since I purchased my Dyson. I didn't want to write a review until I really gave the product a good try. Well, one year later, I'M DONE! This is absolutely the worst vacuum I have ever bought. Next week I'm going to the grocery store and by a $45 Swiffer as I'm sure it will be easier on my back and do a better job than this over-engineered, over-priced Dyson.
I live in a two story house with about 1,500 square foot of wood and brick floors and two small area rugs. I bought the Dyson because I have three small dogs and two big dogs, so yes, there is a lot of pet hair to deal with. But hey, I thought a $400 vacuum could handle the job. Because most of the area needing vacuuming is for hard surfaces so I am forced to use the hard-floor hose and attachment. Uggggggggggggh! First of all hose is so stiff, rigid, and inflexible that you have to use one hand on the front of the hose to direct the floor attachment and a second had on the back of the hose to keep it stretched out enough so that it doesn't continuously hit you in the back side (and I'm being nice with those words.) After an hour with the Dyson, I always feel I've been badly accosted. I don't understand why the hose has to be so darn rigid. Now to the floor attachment itself; all the floor attachment does is collect hair and dust but doesn't suck it up the hose. Every few minutes I have to remove stuff form the attachment and stuff it up the hose. REALLY? I might as well be sweeping with a broom and dust pan, it would be quicker, easier, and a lot less strain on my back.
• Hose EXTREMELY rigid, inflexible and HARD to use
• Floor Attachment collects hair and dust which doesn't get sucked up the hose
• Awkward to use, not good in small rooms, tips over and dents wall and furniture
• Cord too short
• Clogs often
The last thing I will say is.....DON'T EVEN THINK OF PURCHASING A DYSON. We now use a 20 year old Kenmore we bought at a flee market for $15. It works 10X better than the Dyson and is MUCH easier to use.

From the packaging to the vacuum itself, you can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into the design process. I was impressed as to how much dirt it was able to pick up. I noticed that the canister filled up quite quickly because of this but the design of the vacuum makes emptying the canister a sinch.
My only complaint about the vacuum (and this is a very minor issue) is that to stand it upright requires you to push the handle forward until you hear two clicks. The second click is very faint and sometimes you think you have locked the handle only for it to fall down. Again this is a very minor detail and one that would not deter me from purchasing this vacuum.

After owning a Eureka for 7 years and having to change the belt every other month, I finally sprang for this Dyson. I LOVE it. Our carpets are over 10 years old and our couches are 4 years old...the same age as our child. Needless to say, Pringles crumbs, mud, and weird looking bugs are no match for th uhh s vacuum! Our carpets look New and have that lush squishy feeling again! The suction on it is an amazing and I can clean all types of floor with it! Since we have ceramic tile and laminate wood as well as carpet, this vacuum saves me so much time! No more sweeping the dust mopping! Just a once over with the Dyson and I'm done! Most amazing vacuum ever!

Great suction and has always been reliable. We have two large dogs and this vacuum has always worked great even getting their hair. It took a little while to get use to the stiffness of the hose but with time that was easy. This vacuum is very light and it is hard to vacuum with other vacuums now. They all seem so heavy compared to a Dyson and how well they glide.

I bought this Dyson for the wedding shower of my niece. She said it was the best gift she had ever gotten, and it was a big hit at the shower! However, if I had it to do over again, I would have bought her the Dyson 65 instead, since it is a newer model. The DC40 was what she had put on her wish list, so I just ordered her what she asked for. I did find that they were discontinued at a lot of the places that I went to, so that tells me that this vacuum has been left behind for bigger and better things. My recommendation is to do the research, and read the reviews. Everyone wants a Dyson, but there are truly many models to pick from. Good hepa vac's are worth their weight in gold if you have pets!
