5 Year Warranty

All Dyson upright and canister vacuums come with a 5 year warranty-parts and labor

DC50 Multi Floor is Dyson’s lightest upright vacuum. It weighs just 11.6 lbs. and has the performance of a full-size upright. The technology inside has not simply been concentrated – every angle and dimension re-engineered for improved performance. Dyson DC50 has advanced cleaner head technology. It includes a self-adjusting base plate for optimal contact on every floor type, a brush bar with anti-static carbon fiber bristles to remove fine dust from hard floors and stiff nylon bristles to remove ground-in dirt from carpets. Like all Dyson vacuums, DC50 has no bag, so there’s no loss of suction. Instead, patented cyclone technology spins dust and dirt from the air. With 2 Tier Radial cyclones, DC50 has 19 cyclones that work in parallel across 2 tiers to increase airflow and capture more microscopic dust from the home. Unlike ordinary upright vacuum cleaners, DC50 rides on a ball. It turns on the spot, steering easily around furniture and into difficult places. DC50 has Dyson’s latest Ball technology. Even more of the machine’s key components are located inside the ball itself. This reduces clutter on the outside of the machine, streamlining its profile. DC50 Multi Floor comes with additional tools including the Dyson Stiff Bristle Brush, Multi-Angle Brush and Mattress Tool.

  • Advanced Cleaner Head Technology - Carbon fiber bristles remove fine dust from hard floors
  • 2 Tier Radial Cyclones – Dyson cyclones capture more microscopic dust than any other
  • Self-adjusting cleaner head for optimal contact on every floor type
  • Ball Technology - Turns on a dime and maneuvers easily around furniture, obstacles and into difficult places
  • Lightweight and Durable – Our lightest upright, weighs just 11.8 lbs.
  • Instant Release Wand – For cleaning awkward areas
  • Includes Extra Tools – Stiff Bristle Brush, Multi-Angle Brush and Mattress Tool

Does this vacuum have a filter that needs to be clean

So, does this model automatically adjust to different floor types or do you manually have to turn the brush bar off?

My previous days in adjusted to different floor types/carpet height. Perhaps the brush is safe to use on floors and the button to turn it off is only if you do not want to use it?

Is this the compact or full size?

Title says it all. I am seeing a bunch of different DC50 models online and I am wondering if the DC50 in general is a compact model? I purchased the DC50 allergy from target and it was so small it was a joke, no way it would work for my 1700 sq ft home. This weighs the same as that vacuum and I find it hard to believe a full size and compact would weigh the same... Thanks for any help!
Asked by: Todd
The Dyson canister size makes it a compact. It is very efficient but does require emptying often.

Customer Reviews

DC50 Multi Floor Vacuum Cleaner with Bonus Accessories is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 148.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I purchased this particular vacuum for our lake house where it is very humid in the summer and these are so easy to maintain not having to work with damp vacuum bags. The existing vacuum (10yrs old) at the lake is going upstairs and this new one is for the main floor. We have all wooden floors and this vacuum is perfect going from wood to area rugs. Would buy again in a heart beat and would recommend to anyone looking for the perfect vacuum that will last a long long time.

Plate broke( Please see image) after couple of months and now not able to move forward on carpets. But still working good on hard floor. I am trying to get some help to replace that but no luck for several months. I think Dyson should make durable ones for the money they are charging. I had Eureka for several years with out any problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just As Advertised This machine is everything it proclaims to be and then some. The streamline design does not affect the functionality The tools work great and just add to the ease of cleaning. Great machine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from why i did not buy this earlier this vacuum is so good, the trash you get after clean up is more than any other vacuums, I'm going to buy v6 to clean my mattress

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DC 50 Animal First the good: very lightweight, very maneuverable and great suction. Not the bad: the canister is waaaay too small to get any serious coverage completed before having to empty it. And, to remove pet hair, you not only have to empty the canister, but you have to take the canister apart to get the hair removed from it. And finally, the electric cord is way too short. Bottom line: expect a great vacuum, but be prepared to empty and take apart the canister and keep plugging and unplugging the cord from room to room. Had I known these issues, I most likely would not have purchased this model.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure why it's called animal Bought this to replace another pet vacuum. It is very light and compact. I was a little concerned about the size of the head but it has to turned out well. It maneuvers well and can fit into those hard to reach places. I can finally vacuum under my kitchen cabinets. I really like the way it turns on the ball. The big downsize of this vacuum is the size of the dirt container. I have to empty it before finishing a room. Sometimes more than once. I have to put my hand in the container to get all of the dirt and hair out. Yuck! I even have to use a hanger to get what I can't reach. This is not pleasant. I am very disappointed with this feature. For the price of this machine, I was hoping to get something special

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dyson ball compact animal- Objective review Hopefully my review will be helpful making a choice. I will be as objective as i can. I gave the Dyson ball compact animal 5/5 stars for the following reasons: 1) There's a lot of vacuums out there for different budges. When this Dyson went on sale i was able to keep it fairly on a descent price range, $100 off from original price though still somewhat more expensive that other brands, so the sale $100 off was a good deal 2) it really works. It cleans all floors nicely though we recently bought it so time we tell again if this continues. That canister fills up with dirt and animal hair fast and its nice to see a clean carpet. 3) its smooth and quite and light to operate through the floors. Plus it has a good length power cord. 4) easy to empty the canister once full. 5) comes with 5 year warranty, says so on the ball. 6) i like the accessories that comes with to help clean car floors and such as well as couches. Overall i have to think hard to find any negatives which may be no light, some plastic material around the canister and such but with 5 year warranty i feel confident about it.if you are willing to spent a little more and get some more benfits its worth it, since its on sale too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vacum I own 2 Dyson myself and one of them is the DC50 if any of you are having any problems listen to me very carefully. I myself had an issue what i didn't to at first was corrected when i was told and did is to take your Dyson into your ( DYSON ) center were they will fix it for you. I've owned one of mine for 4.5 years took it in and had it fixed and repaired for only 49.95. The sweeper brush and a hose that had a hole in it from a nail that was picked up was replaced and they went over it with a fine tooth comb, got it home used it and it worked better then new. THANKS TO MY DYSON REPAIR CENTER. No i do not work for Dyson.
