Customer Reviews

Rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Reliable As Designed Purchased the 4-pack at my local Home Depot recently to install a glass shelf in the bathroom. Needed 4, and thought this pack was perfect; not so. Following the instructions to simply tap the green head into the wall with the arrow pointing up, the first anchor broke after only three light taps. What broke is the plastic tab used to hold the shaft that goes into the wall first to the bigger head; and it clearly is designed to be the pivot point after putting a screw into the anchor. I was mounting into 1/2" deep sheetrock. After this failure and no longer having 4 working anchors, I continued to see if drilling pilot holes would make a difference with this product. I would now say that although the package directions say no pilot holes are required, in fact they were unless you want broken anchors. When tapping the anchors into the small pilot hole (and I imagine this happens without a pilot hole on softer drywall, too), the anchor turns so that the arrow is no longer pointing straight up. Had to straighten the anchor out with needle nose pliers before completing the final taps into the sheetrock. Finally, contacted the company (Buildex) via their website contact form to let them know their design did not hold up to real world application and to ask if they would send me one in the mail so I could test the rest of the anchor's design claims and complete my project with 4 working anchors (if they would hold my shelf to the wall). Got no response from them at all. Neither the company nor this "Tap-N-Lock" anchor could I recommended. Will return the product to my local Home Depot. April 18, 2015
