We did not install the grabbar as it was part of a bathroom rehab. As we are both in our seventies and never know when a bar might be more important than at present. We have found this curvy bar to be both attractive and convenient instead of the "institutional" looking addition we had dreaded. My own photo is included.

Bought this grab bar as I did not want the unbecoming institutional kind. This is more sculptural, yet functional. My contractor will install it, and I don't think there will be any installation complications. I did print out a review that indicated some problems for my contractor so he is aware and can avoid same situation that that reviewer had in installing his.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wooly22 Beautiful look but design makes installation a challenge
Pros: The bar is beautiful, sleek, contemporary looking, and not at all institutional appearing.
Cons: The screws that come with the kit are not long enough to install for a secure fit per my contractor. I had him specifically reinforce the wall behind the tile where I planned on installing the grab bar. The biggest problem is that you have to use your drill at a steep angle to try not scratching the "O" ring cover plates that cover the screws and provide such a beautiful finished look. You either scratch the "O" ring cover plates or the ring rattles around and scratches the chrome portion that attaches the bar to the shower wall or you scratch them both. My contractor installed one but with the deep scratches that resulted in the portion that attaches to the wall I had him uninstall it. I bought a second one & placed tape around the part that attaches to the wall and around the rim of the "O" ring cover plates. I scratched the cover plate again when trying to remove the tape as I didn't apply it so it would be easy to remove and I started removing it at the point farthest away from where the bar attaches to the wall. I've now learned to put the tape on smoothly and carefully so the ends just meet. This allows you to slide/wiggle the cover plate to a point farthest away from the wall without scratching the chrome. Then, remove the tape starting with the part closest to the point of attachment of the bar to the wall while holding the cover plate still. Then once the tape is off carefully slide the cover plate forward into position so as not to scratch the chrome. If I can't treat the scratches I may have him install another one. With all I've learned I'm hoping the 3rd time will be the charm. One last suggestion: Order 3 or 4 at a time and check for any scratches in the chrome. The first ones I ordered didn't come well packaged and I informed Home Depot when I returned them for scratches in the chrome. When I ordered more they came much better wrapped and cushioned inside the box.

The bar was over the screw heads so needed a screw driver with a 90 degree angle.
No texture on bars.
