I have a significant amount of cedar (invasive juniper) to clear on my property. Trees range from 1" -12" in diameter. Obviously I can't cut the big trees with this brush cutter, but for anything up to about 2.5" this tool is an absolute dream!
I did replace the standard cutting blade with an 80 tooth carbide tipped blade, and we made short work of the small juniper trees mixed in with all the large ones. A tank of gas lasted for over an hour so I was able to stay on task and cut cedar instead of having to continuously refuel. The provided harness is a must because the tool gets heavy nearing the end of the fuel fill, but once I balanced the tool on the single point attachment, the ergonomics were fine.
I have heard that Echo has modified their 2-cycle engines to accept ethanol gas and I was very pleasantly surprised to find this apparently true. For three weeks of cutting, and too many refuelings to count, the tool started each time on the first or second pull.
I did slightly downgrade on ease of use, but to be fair, any 6' tool attached to your hip will be a bit cumbersome. Echo has done a good job with the guidance handles, but you do have to pay attention.
The ability to keep on the move while clearing cedar proved invaluable to me and my work partner. We'd choose a chunk of land, clear all the little stuff, then come back with a chainsaw. Not having to use the chainsaw on the small stuff was a life (and back) saver.
I wholeheartedly recommend this tool to landowners who have a real clearing job in front of them!

I ordered the brush cutter after reading reviews and wasn't disappointed. I used it effectively to clean out the woods on my properly. It took me a while to realize that you don't use it like a saw even though it has a saw blade. It worked when used that way but required a lot more time and effort than necessary. I found out that the most effective way to use the cutter is to use it like a "chop saw". In other words, get the saw going and chop at the item you are cutting. This worked like a charm to cut through saplings up to 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. I have been well satisfied with other Echo products and expect to get good service from the brush cutter for quite some time.
One thing worth noting. The harness that came with the unit is kind of uncomfortable. Adjusting it can help but it was still uncomfortable for me. You might want to order a different harness. I have just coped with it so far.
One last thing, the brush cutter seemed rather pricy to me but it definitely saved me a lot time, effort and wear and tear on my joints! It was a nice birthday present that I bought for myself.

This is a good saw for cutting down saplings and brush. The blade it comes with is better for brush and tress up to 2 inches. With a modified adaptor to hold a standard 10in carbide blade it can cut up to 4in trees, no problem. It is heavy, even with the well designed shoulder harness. The gas will last about as long as your shoulders can take the weight. Which for me was about 45 min of heavy use. Overall very satisfied after 4 tanks of gas usage.

I bought this in June 2015. The instructions for assembly and the diagrams were not the best I have ever encountered. I HIGHLY recommend using the strongest anti-vibration thread locker that you can find when assembling the blade shield. The instructions did not mention that, I found out about it the hard way.
The machine is powerful. Very powerful. Be careful. The machine is also heavy but does such a great job clearing thick brush and bramble that it is a good trade off. You would not believe the tangle that this brush cutter will go through. It is enabling me to reclaim a good portion of old farmland that the previous owners surrendered to the tangle. Buy it, you will like it.

Great for brush and saplings. Make sure there is no one else within the radius of the tool, while you're using it; it's no string trimmer. I'd suggest getting the harness upgrade. The one that comes with it is not really adequate or comfortable enough for the weight of the tool.

I bought it a month ago I'm very happy with it, vibrate at slow speed don't know if that's normal it could be the blade that came with it, maybe it's not well balanced.

I recently purchased some farm land in Northwest TN, One of the roughly 5 acer fields on my property was starting to become over grown with saplings. The saplings were anywhere from 1 to 4 inches in diameter. I elected not to bush hog the field as it is a haven for a large deer herd. I found this brush cutter on line and loved the reviews so I purchased one. I cut 1000s of small saplings and the machine worked like a dream. I was more than pleased with the power and it would easily cut thru salplings 4 inches in diameter at the base. The only issue I had was that the left hand handle bar started to bend in. Remider that I worked on this field 3 days 8 hours a day pretty much non stop. If there is any advise I could give to the engineers of the product is that if there is a way to stengthen this handle it would be a slam dunk. I was sent a replacement handle and all in all I would recommend this to anyone who has some major brush and sapling clearing to do. This machine will not disappoint.
