This pole pruner is just the thing for the job of cleaning up low hanging limbs near sidewalk and buildings. It is somewhat over priced. But it keeps you on the ground and away from the limbs as they fall to the ground, BIG safety factor. Did have the chain come off the bar, think it was from stretch in a new cutting chain. Should have readjusted it sooner. The bar oil capacity is large enough to that you may forget to check the level. Overall a good investment and addition to the grounds maintenance tool box.

My Echo Power Pruner is at least 20 years old. It has been back cutting low hanging limbs from fire access lines on my property without failure. There was an issue with the oiling system when new but a factory redesign replacement took care of the problem, that was longer ago than I can remember. Prior to the use of the power pruner I used the hand saw type and it would normally take 3 to 4 days to cut the access lines which total approximately 4 miles. With the Power Pruner I now usually take 4 to 5 hours. I have not been the gentlest of user but it has taken my wrath in stride. Great product. I do recall when I purchased it I told my wife "I may have bought the most expensive toy I have ever purchased" Boy was I wrong, the Power Pruner A'int no Toy.

I've been wanting a pole saw for a long time. It seems as though I was borrowing my brothers Stihl all the time for trimming. We have an Echo pole saw at work and have put it through some pretty rigorous cuttings. Both good saws, but the Echo is a lot easier to maneuver and hang on to with the handle, and the one at work has NEVER failed me in the 7 years the company has owned it. My work also owns 5 Echo weed trimmers and we never have issues with them either. And that's why I bought an Echo.

I've had the PPT-280 for several years. It's durable, reliable, and I've never had any problems. With the extension available, this is the most versatile of all the pole saws on the market.

ECHO Power Pruner PPT-280, I considered Stihl HT-131 and Husqvarna 327PT5S before deciding on the ECHO PPT-280. The selection of the ECHO over the Stihl and Husqvarna was not because of a lack of confidence in the quality or performance, as I own both Stihl and Husqvarna power products and find them to be excellent. Selection consideration, the price of the products was not considered in the selection; the utility of the product determined the final choice. After investigating the products equally, in my judgement, professional equipment, on this level, measured equal. However, the decision factor of the ECHO over the Stihl and Husqvarna was the reach. The Stihl extended length measured 11-feet 6-inches, the Husqvarna measured 13-feet, and the ECHO measured in at 13-feet 2-inches and offered an optional 4-foot extension, which made the application of the ECHO more versatile and best suited for the desired application. The ECHO was ordered online through Home Depot, which offered convenient free in home delivery; other than the box arriving damaged, the order arrived on time with no damage. The assembly of the ECHO was very easy, requiring less than 30-minutes. Inspection of the product was as expected and equal in quality to the Stihl or Husqvarna. Test Run, the ECHO started with no problem, cut through dead pecan branches easily, with plenty of power, and the additional length of 18- inches over the Stihl did make a difference. CONs, the product reviews online of these products indicated that most of the complaints regarding gas-powered pruners were that they are heavy. The ECHO is no exception, after cutting branches for a short time it is fatiguing and awkward. However, I expect that this would be the case with any saw of this type. Therefore, for what it is worth; the ECHO PPT-280 is a quality product, does as advertised, and I would recommend it to a friend.
