Blower intermittently runs for several second then cuts out.

By Echo 58v is plagued by an intermittent issue where the blower, went first used (after a week or so), will run for 2-4 seconds, then stop. This will repeat a number of times, until it finally can be coaxed to remain running.

I understand that the battery has overload/overheat protection, but could this be a design error, where the threshold of overload detection is too low? Do you have any tips/hacks that I might be able to follow to get my blower to start running reliably when I encounter this problem?

Many thanks, Greg S. Sacramento

I had the same problem in 2015, took it for warranty repair and they could find nothing wrong; this year the
same problem until I read here about the battery reset button. My question: WHERE, in ALL the blower and battery info, does it ONCE mention this button? I nor my wife can find it, yet it is a vital item in using this machine!

Answer:
This means one of two things. During normal operations, it is telling you to stop and re-charge the battery (takes about 2 hrs, because you can't re-charge a "hot" battery. The other thing it means, is you forget to press the re-set button after you recharged the battery. It is a small button on the front of the 58v battery.

Where is the documentation on the "protected sleep mode"? I went through 2 blowers and they would just shut off after running intermittently. Very frustrating!

Mine was the same and was repaired by them. Contact Echo customer service and explain the issue...it is not a new issue as when they released this blower, mine did the same and they found defective wiring, repaired it and shipped back. The whole process took about two weeks.

Mine initially had a similar issue and since running the battery(s), I have 2, in the blower all the way down until it cuts off, and then charging it... I have done this 2 times to each battery.
The "problem" has not resurfaced.

Answer:
Hello Mr. Greg! The battery has gone into a protective “Sleep mode”. To counter this, please press the on board battery fuel gauge button, which will reset the battery and “Wake it” up. This may occur if the tool/battery sits for a while as well, not just on initial use, but the response is the same, simply depressing the fuel gauge battery button will re-set it. Thanks for your question.

Sure, I don't see why it could not be left on the charger. Just try to run battery completely dead prior to placing back on the charger.

Yes. The charger is "smart" and won't force feed the battery or otherwise cause damage if left.

I just bought the weed trimmer with the 4A battery - fully expecting this battery would be interchangeable between all Echo products. To my surprise, it is not! Will the blower support the 4A battery and if so, when can I purchase it?

I bought the Echo 58v mower with 2x 4 amp batteries and the blower by itself without a battery for that reason.

For big jobs that the blower will require full throttle for more then 15 minutes. However, you will be surprised how much you can do at half throttle.
I bought my 4 amp battery right away at Home Depot Store. I just looked it up online and checked for local stock and ran out and got it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic piece of equipment I have been using gas powered blowers for over 20 years and have always had to put up with rough starts keeping different fuels for each different piece of equipment. No more. I was concerned about whether a battery powered blower could perform as well gas powered but the Echo blower has done everything that I used my gas powered on. No more tune ups, which cost more and more each year. I have the Echo trimmer as well so when I finish with one, I just pull the battery out, put in the next and keep going. The run time is excellent as well as the power. Great buy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] May 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome performance Great power and battery life! Instant power, no gas/oil mixing. Great warranty! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It blows! (like it's supossed to) Bought this after getting the Echo battery string trimmer. This blower moves alot of air. Cleaned off my back porch of most debris (including most of the stuck sand from my kids sand box). Easily clears out grass clippings from the sidewalk and drive way. The "cruise control" speed setting works well, making it more comfortable for prolonged use. Only con: This blower is heavy. It's weighted well with good balance, but it is not light weight.
