Customer Questions & Answers

How adjustable is the speed?

In addition to my driveway I would want to use this to blow leaves out of my gutters. How powerful is it on low speed? I don't want to damage the gutters (or snow/ice melting "heat tape" I have on the roof/in the gutters) using it.
Asked by: Jack
It's a trigger, so very adjustable

Blower intermittently runs for several second then cuts out.

By Echo 58v is plagued by an intermittent issue where the blower, went first used (after a week or so), will run for 2-4 seconds, then stop. This will repeat a number of times, until it finally can be coaxed to remain running. I understand that the battery has overload/overheat protection, but could this be a design error, where the threshold of overload detection is too low? Do you have any tips/hacks that I might be able to follow to get my blower to start running reliably when I encounter this problem? Many thanks, Greg S. Sacramento
Asked by: MrGreg
I had the same problem in 2015, took it for warranty repair and they could find nothing wrong; this year the same problem until I read here about the battery reset button. My question: WHERE, in ALL the blower and battery info, does it ONCE mention this button? I nor my wife can find it, yet it is a vital item in using this machine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery Reset button After a few months the battery would not charge. I called the warranty hot line and was told to push the battery reset button. What? This information is not in the owners manual. She said the button was on the top of the battery and looks like a decal. Works Now!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for a battery powered blower, less powerful than gas. I got the Echo 58 Volt blower to go along with the 58V chainsaw i purchased. I noticed it was only $20 more to buy the blower with the battery and charger then just to buy the battery as a standalone in the store. The blower does a good job, I have a Stihl BG50 blower that i use for my business that is comparable size and I say it's about 25% less power than the Stihl. I mainly use it on my driveway, patio and porch. It does fine for that but i suspect if you're getting this alone to blow heavier larger leaves and such you will be disappointed. If you have a smaller property and are using the other 58V tools it's a good add on especially for the price. If your getting for larger yards with leaves and such it will be a little underwhelming. Plus it is quite a bit heavier than a gas blower that is the same size, that can fatigue you if you're using it for awhile.

(purchased 10/17/2016). I've used the blower several times. I've noticed that the speed of the blower varies when engaging the trigger switch fully(both with and without the "cruise control" activated. I was able to diagnose the problem to a pinched ribbon cable on the variable speed switch. I was able to flatten the ribbon cable and improve the operation. But the cable was damaged badly. I'm going to have to take the blower to a repair center for repairs since Echo would not send the part to me directly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very powerful... Not at all impressed with the power from this blower. I think opening at the end is too large to concentrate the air flow and produce a more powerful stream of air.

Two 2ah batteries are enough to do some work. If you just have one battery, you will likely want another. I have a house in the woods, and a hunting cabin in the woods. I bought this blower to maintain a fire break around both. Having the Echo chainsaw that came with a 4ah battery, I have used that larger battery with this blower too. Both work well, with the 2ah's being noticeably lighter in handling. I've not had problems with the blower cutting out with either battery. It is best to switch batteries as soon as just one fuel gauge light is on and not dip the voltage real low. Lithium batteries tend to get hottest when about used up. The charger will start faster if you want to keep working and rotate batteries before the blower quits on its own. Ideally with two of four lights remaining. I'd guess I've cycled the batteries about 20 or 25 times by now. Oh, when I registered the blower, I had to register the 2nd battery separately. Seems they just threw the 2nd battery in the box and didn't change the model number.

The blower continue to switch off after only running for about ten min. It will run for seconds and switch off. I thought the battery was not fully charged so I put it bacK on the charger. The battery indicater show that it was charged. I tried it again with the same results. The blower more than met my expectations and I was very satisfied, when it worked.

It is not as powerful as gas. It is just what I wanted. No gas smells in my garage, can use year round. It does not move the leaves like my gas blower, but I am happy with it.
