It could NOT be easier... Simply loosen the large black wing nut, press the umbrella style locking nipple and remove. Reverse order to switch to the next attachment. 10 seconds maybe!

This is a straight shaft, not a curved shaft trimmer. The edger has a slight curve to do its job, but the trimmer has a straight shaft.

Both pictures on the Home Depot website picture the straight shaft edger attachment. I would assume the Home Depot is shipping what they have pictured. They would never picture a more expensive edger attachment and ship a less expensive one, would they?

The only attachments for this combo package is the trimmer and the edger, but there are many other attachments that you can buy. An example you can attach a blower and a hedge trimmer, you can find all attachments by searching echo trimmer attachments on the HD site.

The warmup period is not unique to Echo. Allow me to explain why.
The engine's cylinder is fabricated from cast aluminum and has a stainless steel sleeve pressed in. The piston rings slide against the stainless steel as the piston moves in the cylinder. The two different metals have different expansion coefficients. That is, the stainless steel will expand faster than the aluminum casting for a given temperature increase.
This means 1) that in order to prevent the expanding stainless steel sleeve from cracking the aluminum cast, the sleeve has a relatively loose fit (snug, but not real tight), and 2) when the engine is cool, the piston rings are tight against the sleeve. Running at full power in this condition can cause excessive wear of both the rings and the sleeve. As the temperature rises, the sleeve expands and tightens against the aluminum, and the rings loosen slightly to provide smoother operation and less wear.
As such, it is best to allow the engine to warm up before asking the engine to produce a lot of power. This is a good procedure to follow on any air-cooled engine fabricated from cast aluminum. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best multi power tool on the market I bought this combo kit last month I use it weekly and it pre fires in two pulls then fires in one pull on cold starting yes I recommend this product I have a Stihl chainsaw that I just got back from the shop it starts great but Boggs down when cutting though trees I'm going with an all echo line up instead of stihl 1 because of warranty and price echo is a little bite cheaper but not much April 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic I had initially purchased a Ryobi 2 Stroke 25cc trimmer. It worked well but cold starts were a paint. So I exchanged it for a Ryobi 4 Stroke as I thought it has more torque, no mixing and had a good price point. But that sucker is so hard to start. After 15 tries it starts and then runs fine no complaints. But I couldn't imagine breaking my wrist trying to start it every time. Hence I thought I would give this ECHO a try. Opened the box and I was surprised by the build quality. I put it together and just ran a few minutes on some weeds... it has amazing power. What impressed me about this unit? 1)Build quality 2)Ergonomic handle that also flexes a little. Nice touch! 3)Gas tank guard!!! Important. Imagine placing your unit gazzillion times in pavement and driveways and scratching that plastic gas tank! 4) Strap hook. (A supplied strap would have been a nice touch, but alas not) 5) Bump feed or speed feed head is great. 6) The supplied edger is built like a tank! 7) Lastly the most important thing. Starting! The i30 start is smooth as butter. I couldn't believe I was starting a 2 stroke engine with so much ease and smooth pull. It's awesome. 8) Oh yes they do come with safety glasses. For 299? It's a great value for the excellent quality. I remember buying the Ryobi 4 stroke power head for 169 then a edger for 60. So for 70 dollars more you get a solid product in the ECHO. I own many Ryobi products (lithium battery based drills and such) and I love their products which is why I bought their trimmer in the first place. But when it comes to outdoor power equipment, ECHO rocks! If you are a homeowner and need a solid trimmer, give this a try and you won't be disappointed.. As for me? I have become an ECHO fan. Ordered the curved shaft and high torque attachment as well. Might get the power broom later for which I might need the PAS 266 which has more power. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by exactly what you'd expect from Echo Ordered this to replace a troybilt weedeater that I've had to work on every year I've owned it. It had a bigger engine but it's echo has more power. Starts like nothing runs great. Looking forward to lots of years of hard use to come. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great trimmer This is a very well made and lightweight trimmer and edger. Easy assembly and started on third pull right out of box. Runs great plenty of power much better than any trimmer I ever owned before. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far it's great Just used it for the first time the other day and everything worked really well. First start was a little hard but seems to be easier now. The attachments can be interchanged very easily. Great Echo Quality May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works just as good as stand alone trimmer & edger The trimmer and edger accessories work just as well as my old Echo trimmer and edger. I also owned an Echo blower but gave to my son for his yard and bought this set as a replacement. I have used about three time already and just as powerful and a better value given you do not need to buy three machines. Does not take long to change accessories but does take getting used to. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Echo Great tool. Worth the money! Been wasting my money on lesser brands. May 24, 2016
