Easy to assemble and set up for use. The unit works well and seems to have adequate power for home owner use. It is not overly loud when running and it starts with minimal effort. I allow a short warm up period to allow the cylinder sleeve to expand and not cause premature internal wear. This unit replaced a larger cc Craftsman straight shaft and seems to work equally well with a bit less weight and slightly less fuel consumption. I do not believe it would be up to the task a commercial use environment would subject it to. The ECHO is used on approximately three acres and it works well for my needs. The edger attachment is a little cumbersome to use and gives a good forearm workout as I am short in stature. This is the first time owning an edger so I can not compare to similar products. In the past I simply used the string trimmer to cut the curb and sidewalk lines. At this point I use the edger attachment to cut the turf line parallel to curb and sidewalk and the sting to taper the turf back at a 45 degree angle.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rustyzman Everything I expected from Echo
Waited a long time to finally buy a quality Echo. After using a neighbor's unit and being completely impressed with its capabilities, I went and bought this unit. Great functionality, great power. All in all, a professional level unit. Very pleased.

Very happy with this product. Switching between tools is easy and makes storage in the garage much simpler.

I purchased my SRM-210SB power head/trimmer/edger combo in 2002. I have had no problems with this machine at all. Still running strong after 14 seasons of cutting grass in my yard as well as taking care of my father's place. I added the power pruner three years ago, and I wish I would have bought it sooner. I brag to everyone about my Echo when given the chance. Buy own for yourself and you'll see why.

Just purchased the VP and tried out the trimmer for the first time. Assembly of the attachment was easy. Followed the starting procedures and after priming with the recommended pumps a singal pull with the choke on the engine started on the next pull with choke off. Worked perfectly and what power to cut weeks / blackberries. Can't wait to try the edger. My friend recommended after I looked at a Stihl Kombi. Got a lot better value with Echo.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ddrrmm Significantly under powered for edger
I just purchased this, based on the quality of my current Echo SRM - 2100 trimmer. Planned to use the old, still working great after a carb replacement a year ago, at our lake house. This new unit does not have the RPMs or power of the old unit. Easily came to a complete stop when edging. Seriously considering a return because of how under powered it is for the task. Quality is good, but it does seem heavier than my old unit as well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TKVANCIL Attention to detail
I tend to research items thoroughly before pulling the trigger on purchases ( I have been burned to many times in the past ). I can tell you first hand the Echo line of trimmers are world class. Very thoughtful design in the smallest of details, yields a very happy customer. For example: Grease ports in all the key spots for great longevity of your purchase, a simple retention device so you don't loose the gas cap or drop it in the dirt, very effective anti vibration materials everyplace, the rubber grips your hands come in contact with are like a golf club, the trimmer line head is the best on the market ( so...simple and elegant ) and would cost you $30 to add ( its standard and pre-filled so your ready on day one to go ), the engine has covers designed in to keep you away from the hot parts & accidental damage from tossing it around, the parts that need to be heavy duty are just that, while the parts that don't are designed with light weight material to keep the weight down, change over to a new tool attachment could not be simpler with no extra tools required. The power this little motor puts out is mind blowing. I had other units in the past with considerably larger engines ( that you had to pull for days to get started ), this engine puts them all to shame in virtually every matrix you could come up with ( power, weight, noise, vibration, ease of starting, fuel consumption and so on . . . ). Hats off to the designers and engineers at Echo for a job well done!! I couldn't be happier with my purchase and look forward to trying out all the other wonderful attachments you came up with for this dream machine.
