I bought this model to replace my old curved-shaft Echo. The old one still works great, but recently purchased a new home with more land and obstacles. I found myself to be hunched over for 3 hours trimming around and edging. NOT ANY MORE. I am just shy of 6' and no longer have to bend over to reach everything I could not with a curved-shaft. The trimmer starts and idles perfectly each time with 3 pulls at the most after a slow prime pull. The power is there as well. It feels very well made/sturdy. Over-all its a well-balanced, well-made, power house trimmer that I forsee lasting for years just like the STILL running Echo it replaced.

Easy to use and started right up. Being able to install the string without disassembling the head was a welcome relief. Plenty of power for the homeowner.

This is my second Echo weed eater I have owned. My last Echo lasted 15 years. I have used this one all last spring and no trouble with it at all. My only complaint is that it seems to have so much vibration that my fingers are all numb and I can hardly bend my fingers. I use it anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a day. I even put pipe foam insulation around the handle and the grip where the throttle lever is. That seemed to help some what with the vibration. I use this any where from 3 to 6 days a week. It is a great working weed eater.

Very happy with this trimmer. Easy to start. Runs smooth. Tap the head and the string feeds automatically. Makes it through the toughest situation with ease. Would recommend it to anyone. By the way, I'm not prone to brag on hand-held, gas powered devices. This one is the exception.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FishingGardener So far, much better than my old trimmer.
Much quieter and less vibration than my Ryobi gas trimmer. Starts easily and the handle has a comfortable shape. The bump head line feeder actually works and it helps reduce work time because I don't have to stop and pull extra line out by hand.

This is my second echo weed eater I have bought. The first one I bought was in 1999 and lasted me 15 trouble free years. I got this one because I wanted one that had more power then their SRM225. some of my customers have weeds 4 feet tall and it cuts right thru with no problem at all. It starts right up and runs all day long. If you want one that will get the job done and run for many years, then you can not go wrong buying this weed eater. Stay away from the cheap ones because you will have buy a new one every year. Echo is a great product!

My carburator had to be replaced after 2 seasons of use. Authorized service center (Lakeview Power Equipment, Rowlett, TX) replaced the carburator ((around $100.00,/NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY)
Other issues as well, like bump head (plastic tabs) not functioning properly.
Unit is not energy conservative at all.
My recommendation: Buy "electric" unit. (Skip Echo brand, since they demonstrate no regard for consumer
